Bad, Mean Doctors! So sorry for your pain and frustration! Unfortunately we've had so many discussions on here about such poor treatment.
You deserve better and you're right what does abuse by others have to do with your situation? Hope you get relief! |
That's horrible RSD31  As AzDi said, we've had a very recent discussion about this sort of thing in another thread, might be worth checking it out...
I would put in a complaint immediately (especially as, if you don't contest this, it will stay on his records and they'll use it again ), making exactly that point - that what others are allegedly doing has no bearing on your case, and should not be used as an excuse to refuse to your meds. You have been diagnosed with the most painful condition in the world, and you need your painkilling meds to get through the days. Going cold turkey like this is definitely bad for you - you could have a bad reaction and then he would risk ending up in court. If they don't respond, go higher up the chain. And if you have no other option, find another doc who has some humanity in his dark twisted little doctory soul.... In the UK there is a patient charter thing that states that the rights of the patient include the right to adequate pain relief...it might not be worth the paper it's written on, but the point is that you have the right to have these meds when your diagnosed condition is all about nerve pain. I'm so sorry you've been treat this badly. It's not fair, it's not right, and you deserve to be treated properly and given what you need. I hope you get some luck soon and can get your meds back... If you're on pain meds of course you're going to fail a drug test. This is one of the ways they are messing us up. With chronic pain we need the pain meds yet we get labeled as abusers because we actually need them to manage the pain. Ues there are people that abuse them. We don't. We take them when we need them not to get high or sell them. This is from someone who jas had Dr's tell me that I was becoming addicted and I told them that I don't take them every day. Only on really bad pain ays. When I can't get out of my bed because I hurt so bad is when I take them. I don't drink or take "recreational" drugs. Dr's are starting to forget the rules and hypocratic oaths they swear when they become drs. The government is putting a lot of restrictions on prescribing pain meds because of their addictive qualities. But hey we are just idiots and little men and women we know nothing about our pain. Sorry this has been my rant for 10 yrs about my pain.

I am sooo sorry! I've been having some difficulties with my doctors office too. THIS is what happens when the government tries to start dictating what doctors can or cant do. There is a prolific problem with abusers, but the laws are getting so confined the people it hurts worst are US, the actual people who NEED the medications! I think they fail to realize that the "junkies" will get their fix in whatever way they can. In my town last week 2 different pharmacies were robbed for Oxycontin.....making laws and super tight regulations will NOT stop them from stealing and selling them. It just makes it near impossible for CPP to get the help the truly need.....
I hope you can find a better doctor who will treat you and your pain like you deserve! |
Complaint!!!
I would file a complaint and definitely have another drug test done. One time I popped positive for methadone, a drug I've never taken, and something else I've never done. The doctor treated me like dirt, and after I left, I went down to the clinic and had a real drug screen done. Turned up completely negative except for the meds I was prescribed. Turns out he "fake" positives people to lighten his patient load. I never went back, and found a PM dr with some ethics. I'm so sorry, and I hope things work out, but I would definitely further investigate. Besides, Tylenol 3 in a drug test? That's like Advil practically!

Do we treat animals this way? Hell no. RSD31, have your wife call your congressman up and raise hell about it. Make a loud fuss. Get as many friends and family together to help if possible. Christ, its this kind of DEA action that is barbaric and has got millions in a panic because of a few drug seeking idiots. As I stated before, you can bet those in the DEA have a family member in extreme pain their asses will and do receive pain relief.
What I keep hearing from the tube now is there are a few stumps who now say pain meds are not the answer for pain. Sucking it up is and moving your body around is the cure. But let their butts suffer 24-7 for years and see what they would do. This has the potential to force those in severe chronic pain to seek relief from the streets. I will say organized crime plays a big roll in pills hitting the street, not just rough doctors and fake patients. |
We are in enough pain as it is
and this situation causes more pain. It's a vicious circle, because it adds stress to the patient, stress exacerbates rsd and pain levels go up causing a stronger need for pain meds. In Kentucky a new law has caused many chronic pain patients to be dropped by doctors because they say it prevents them from writing pain med scripts. It actuality the law makes doctors accountable if a patient is caught selling pills. The law requires that the doctor do drug tests on their pain med patients and search a statewide database to show if they are doctor shopping. I went thru the same ordeal as RSD31. But I was lucky my pcp is a wonderful doctor and understands the pain rsd causes, and we are working together to make sure we were abiding the law. Even though I hadn't broken any laws often anyone who takes pain meds in Ky is treated as a junkie. Our attorney general is boasting about how he is preventing prescription pain drug overdoses by talking about and enforcing the new laws. On his website he has stories of the success of the law, but he refuses to allow pain patients to speak of the ordeal they are facing, and deletes and bans anyone who tries to talk about how chronic pain sufferers have be injured by this law. He put out a press release that stated prescription pain med overdoses were down in Ky and at the bottom of the article he says heroin overdoses are up 525 percent, I don't see that as a victory. He is also going to run for Governor btw. End of soapbox.
RSD31 I would not stop, keep trying to find a doctor to work with you. There still doctors out there who care. I wish I could do more but all I can do is send gentle hugs and well wishes that you find the help you need. You do not deserve to suffer. |
