Idiopathic Polyneuropathy
Hello:
I just came back from the neurologist and he said he doesn't know what is causing my symptoms. Therefore it's an idiopathic polyneuropathy. For my hands getting numb at night he said to buy some splints and take vit. b6 100mg/day. he said if after 6 months i still have symptoms , he wants to repeat the EMG test.Do you think i should look for a different neurologist? Thanks |
I think 100mg of B6 is too much!
Numb hands at night may also be metabolic...either hypothyroidism or pre-diabetes. Low blood sugars give numbness. Did you have a B12 test to see if you are below 400pg/ml? Did you have Vit D level checked? The night splints on the hands can help to reduce compression at the wrist. So I do agree with those. Don't get one too tight. Too tight will be worse than nothing. |
Hi MrsD.
My B12 is 375. A year and a half ago, vitamin D was an 8. I am now up to 33. I will try the splint and see how it goes. Thank you |
