The Five Types of Boredom, Explained by Baby Animals

Here is an article from Yahoo News -- with cute animals

. . . a recent study published in the journal "Motivation and Emotion," a new type of boredom called "apathetic boredom" is described.
Characterized by feelings of helplessness and lethargy that are similar to depression, it's the bottom of the boredom barrel.
That brings the total number of ways you can be lulled into listlessness to five, according to science.
1. Indifferent boredom
2. Calibrating boredom
3. Searching boredom
4. Reactant boredom
5. Apathetic boredom

Do you ever get bored?

I wonder if animals get bored. ;)

I wonder if one can have multiple types all at once.

All except #4 seem to fit me. :(

That's pretty sad, asnd I'm one who used to say, "I never get bored because even if I'm not allowed to do anything, I can lose myself in my thoughts!" I still kind of feel like that's mostly true, but I also seem to fit what the article describes.

Hmmm. Who can say? I loved the goat prancing on the pig though.

Hi, Waves,

I found a better article that refers to the study.
The fifth type has only newly been identified -- apathetic boredom.

They studied German college and h.s. students.

Apparently people usually experience the same type of boredom:

“We therefore speculate that experiencing specific boredom types might, to some degree, be due to personality-specific dispositions,” reports Goetz.
I'm not sure if I have one of those types. I do have depression.

That is a good plan, Steve.
