Oh, MY! I sure wish you had told us sooner! How old were you when you had that surgery?
Most definitely. Yes, we have had bariatric patients on this forum. Most recently a young woman with severe PN in her feet which is now spreading. Bariatric surgeries impair absorption of all nutrients. If yours is a gastric bypass, you have no stomach functions at all? Can you share your diet with the readers here? So we can get an idea of what you may need. |

No I had intestinal bypass in 1973. I eat anything I want to eat. The doctor told me green vegetables especially leafy ones would cause gas. I did have to have liver function test every 6 months for a couple of years. The only trouble I ever had was my fault. I got depressed in 1978 or 79 and pretty much stopped eating wound up in hospital with severely depleated potassium. Then a couple of times Ihad potassium drop but last time was 2009.
I did find out the type of surgery does limit my ability to absorb fat soluble vitamins. Just put the post out here to see if anyone had same surgery and if they had problems |
