Post-Concussion & Cold Virus

Hi,

I am 8 months from my concussion. I am encountering my first cold virus. I am hitting about two weeks. My experience so far with it is most days I am on- as long as I stay on top my oils and water. But other days I could seriously sleep all day or just sit in one spot without moving. Pre-injury I could hammer through having a cold. Some of my standard symptoms sneak in- fatigue, lack of comprehension and memory recall/retrieval. What have others experienced? Haha- guess I want to validate what I am experiencing.

Thanks.

Thanks for posting! I'm in day one of my first post-concussion cold and I feel like I could hibernate until spring!

Ack a cold!

Hello!

I found that I had a few symptoms come back when I got cold. My tinnitis was acting up more, and I was really, very tired too. I was more tired than usual.

So, I think a cold maybe can aggravate PCS or not -- just depends on your injury, how it is healing etc.

Hope you're feeling well soon.

All for now

Any stressors to the body, whether physical or emotional stresses your body's chemistry making PCS worse. I triple up on Vit C and can usually blow through a cold in a matter of days.

I have had this same experience! It seems all viruses are worse with PCS. It can drive you crazy because you think to yourself:am I malingering? Or, worse even, is my PCS coming back full bore? Very disheartening for sure! Thanks for posting.

Personally, colds and flu are pretty much a blur for me. I just do what I can to minimize and shorten it - a teaspoon of honey, cayenne-garlic capsules, a little baking soda in a big glass of water, and some truly nasty herbal teas that make the cold symptoms seem pleasant compared to the taste ;)

I get foggy and dull and out of it, and I need to slow down. But overall, I just keep going, with a bit of extra rest and more patience added to the mix.

Eventually, I expect that things will resolve. My memory issues keep me from recalling clearly what's happened with me in the past, but I have to trust that since I'm still alive and generally healthy, things resolved successfully in the past.

So, they probably will again.
