Google doogle ??

I am a little confused by the crazy Google doodle.

I guess we are supposed to understand / appreciate the homage to Dr Who.

Has anyone tried to "play" it?

Your mission, should you choose to accept it (and it's Friday, so why shouldn't you?), is to rescue the six letters of the Google name from the nefarious enemies.
I have a feeling that IT departments, developers, and, well most of the tech world, will stop and pay playful home for a whole day on Friday.
Or maybe it will go away by Saturday - - I don't know.

Thanks, Mari. I missed it entirely. It is not yet in the archive, either.

I've never been a Dr. Who fanatic, perhaps because I've not seen a lot of it. I did see a couple of shows and they were cool. It is hugely popular amongst techies, though; I do know that. ;)

Maybe when the doodle shows up in the archive I will try to play it.

It is up for us today.... You don't have to click on it... just ignore it.

playing doodle

I keep getting killed by the robot!

:thud:

I'm going to go watch Poirot for a while... I can't play and watch.

It's a cute game though. :)

Mari, what is it that confuses you about the doodle?

I've now played it right through (rescued all six letters)... was there something you wanted to know?

Google Doodle for Valentine's

The google doodle today ---

--when you click on on one of the candy hearts you hear a love story.

Ira Glass put the love stories together.
(I absolutely love Ira Glass.)

complaining

The google doodle for the world cup is going to go how many more weeks?

I watched 15 mins of one game and read about that and another (I would rather read about soccer than watch it because I do not know what to watch for and the game is too fast for me to follow and the announcers are little help.)

Can I give Google a call to tell them to knock it off?
The octopus with the moving arms is distracting.

There's probably a place you can give feedbaack, but not sure where.

I looked, but can't find a setting where you can disable the doodle. There are tricks but not real good ones.

You can try the advanced search page. I don't think it ever gives doodles:

http://www.google.com/advanced_search

It behaves like the regular search page if you type your words in the first line and hit enter. You can't easily click search (have to scroll down for the button), and there is no feeling lucky button.

Aside:
I do use google.com, but I had to jump through hoops to get it. I don't know why, I don't see the google doodle.

I wonder if I have been missing out on all the doodles. :(

This is upsetting.

A quick experiment revealed that I get doodles when I explicitly usee other countries' google sites... including Canada's and I am nowhere near Canada... I DO get the doodle. Why can't I get it with the US site, I wonder!

If you want to try a search engine that has less image/logo changes and more privacy - I found these - I just changed to ixquick for my homepage & searches..
