higher elevation pain
 

Has anyone noticed a difference in pain levels at higher and lower elevations? I have to drive up the mountains tomorrow for Thanksgiving and I haven't been at that high an elevation since August and my husband was driving. I know being colder hurts, I know some lower elevations hurt. I am going to have my husband drive but it still hurts. Any suggestions?

I've never noticed a difference in my pain levels when it comes to different elevations. I do have more pain when it gets colder though. I'm sorry I can't be of much help with this question, but I hope you'll have a good trip and a Happy Thanksgiving.

There is a lot of evidence that barometric air pressure changes affect pain levels in CRPS, also other weather changes like damp, cold, or stormy weather for instance. All can exacerbate the pain and make us feel worse.

Air pressure changes also make air travel more painful for us than non-CRPS folk, and the change involved in driving from sea-level up some pretty high mountain scenery would also involve enough of a change of pressure if you are susceptible to it.

:hug:I know its hard,but bring something like a book or sewing,ect..keep your mind busy..keep warm,take meds..before you go..something extra for pain..Good luck..

There was a definite change to my pain levels and waves. I did it and got through but wow I should have used my cane. 5 more weeks and I can start treatment again. It was a nice day up there. The winds were calm, and it wasn't any colder up there but still I was hurting big time. Then people were crowding me and some brushed my left leg and I almost went down. Not fun when you're pregnant and have a 2 yr old in your arms because he wants mommy. Just so yall know for me elevation does make a difference.

I flew twice 7 weeks after getting this came very close to walking into the sea rather than make the flight back.
