Buzzing Nerves?
 

Hi everyone,

I was not too sure where to post this....
I have, bluntly put, genital pain..in my 20s.
I have all sorts of sensations, most of them are BUZZING sensations. they drive me mad.
What do they mean? is it irritated, inflamed or damaged nerves?
I also have pain (stabbing, electric shocks)
the area hates any type of touch..it starts buzzing...
and my right buttock vibrates VERY BAD, it's as if I had an internal plug down there :(
I suspect some pudendal nerve issues, but why on earth do they buzzz?????????????????????

This isn't something I have heard of before. However, pain as you experience isn't normal. Almost sounds like it is neurological in nature. I would seek your Primary care doctor first. He may have the best ides of what specialist you should see. It may not be OBYGN, but some other specialized doctor. Don't be afraid to tell your primary about all the symptoms. Really, if you have a good doctor to start with, he can and will direct you. I hope a solution can be found. ginnie:grouphug:

I forgot to say I have seen 30 doctors (i'm in london)
they are all useless.
I was diagnosed with vulvodynia initially....my nerves were irritated by an infection..but now my last OBGYN said it's not that....great
I take 50 mg elavil/amitriptyline already, but not enough...

I just don't understand the buzzing
i suspect the genitofemoral and pudendal .....

So sorry there doesn't seem to be real help for you. I am sure you ran yourself all over with those doctors. Doctors do not know everything, it always will be a practice. No fun to live with things that really hurt. I will be thinking of you. ginnie:grouphug:

What you are describing is called Paresthesia, an abnormal sensation(s). These types of sensations can be felt anywhere and can be caused by many different things. You will need to work with your Doctors to try and figure out what is causing you to have these abnormal sensations.

I have dealt with vibrations/buzzing in the genital area for 28 years (off and on). Mine is caused by a Neurological Disease.

I hope you find answers as to why you are experiencing Paresthesia and it is easily resolved.

Snoopy said exactly what I would have said. I agree with your line of thought on your self-diagnosis. I do not have any personal experience with that area but have read about it. Hope you can find someone that will help you. It sure is not from lack of trying on your part to get a diagnosis from many different doctors. How difficult is it to get appts in London? Do not give up. Keep trying to get answers.

Sometimes paresthesia will resolve on its own. If the source is discovered, proper treatment may help or even resolve it.

I really appreciate your replying to a very scared 26yo.
In london it takes 3-4 months to see an OBGYN, but they are all clueless, which I don't get. If you practice vaginal surgery, how can you NOT know which nerves are there?

anyway, I shall beg for a neuro to see me instead of an OBGYN because at least then they will give me meds.
