Spasms, Twitching, No Sleep

Hey guys, I wanted to give a little update on my condition right now. I still haven't went to the doctor yet to get referred to a Rheumatologist, but I'll be doing this next week.

My main questions might have already been asked, but this time it seems to worry me more.

First off, the last two weeks have been horrible sleep wise. I stay up all night because I can't sleep. Then finally when my body tells me it is exhausted from staying up, I just pass out and sleep. But usually sleep is now done during the day..ugh.

Another thing is that the twitching, electrical sensors around my body, seem to not have stopped. I don't know if this is muscle spasms or what. It feels like I'm being shocked almost every step I take. I had mentioned it to my doctor, but they didn't do anything about it.

Also as before, I still take Gabapentin and Zoloft everyday, so nothing new medicine wise. I hope they can figure this stuff out...

I do have a job interview Monday morning, so pray for me that it is what God wants me to do. It is a sales position to where I don't have to lift anything...I just talk to people!

So sorry that you have been having an increase in symptoms of late.
I hope it's only temporary and you'll feel better soon.

Good luck in your interview. I hope that this job is for you.

"I stay up all night because I can't sleep."

You've mentioned in other posts that you spend a fair amount of time on the computer. Doing so into the night can disturb sleep patterns...especially if you are playing stimulating games.

You might try winding down toward evening and staying off the computer for a few hours before what you consider "bed time".

Yes, good luck in the interview.

With love, Erika

I agree with Erika. I have trouble sleeping if I let my brain get too stimulated before going to sleep. All things are off by around 10. There are occasions when I try to go to sleep and I can't. Then I listen to some relaxation music on YouTube and maybe come on here. But it's not that often.

You also mentioned in other posts being on a lot more meds than what you posted here. Are you off all the other meds? If not, it could be a combination of meds that is making you spasm and twitch as well as not sleep. While the Neurontin will help settle spasms, you will still get them they just won't be as severe. It should settle the twitches down though. I don't get as many twitches and jerking. I do occasionally, especially during a flare, get them and they are annoying. It is then that I resort to taking Ativan which helps me tremendously on those nights.

Also, check to see if what you are experiencing is a side effect of Zoloft. I know one of the ADs can cause some nerve issues but I don't remember which one.

Good luck with your rheumy visit.

I too am having a night (tonight) where the electrical shock stuff is keeping me awake.

I possibly did get too stimulated today. I took my grandson to a movie he wanted to see, and it was a dangerous drive through icing streets. 5 to 25 miles per hour all the way home after driving him back to his home. I made it!
There are no meds I can take for this. I don't even go to a neuro, as the only one I know of here isn't so hot...there may be someone else, but my main doctors are the pcp, dermatologist, and hematologist, and that's a full plate. the only really good neuro I've experienced retired a long time ago and he was in California. Otherwise, very unproductive sessions. Yes, first one did dx MS through tests. But he left my area a quarter century ago.

Sometimes the ONLY way I can sleep is to get up, drink something hot, and sit at the puter for a while. So that's why I'm here now.

I hope your job interview is as you want it to be.

Hi Mariel,

Right here, doing the very same thing...with a cup of tea :D

I would like to report that last night was a night completely without jerks and electrical jolts. I think I slept around ten hours. Possibly making up for the night before. Why was I so blessed last night? One thing, I didn't go out all day because of the snow and ice, so I spent a boring mopey day with only a little housekeeping, computer, and TV. I guess I needed to slow down even if it was pretty frustrating. I've been at home again all day, but tomorrow two appts. We'll see if that makes for an electrical night.
