Lexapro - Can it cause burning and tingiling?
Hello,
Has anyone tried taking Lexapro for depression or neuropathy and experienced burning or tingling? I am seeing where some people are reporting that they have experienced burning or tingling while on this medication. Thanks, N1 |
Yes, it is possible. When serotonin is raised by SSRI's...in the body, flushing, sweating, tingling etc is possible. This tends to go away with time, but some people are more likely than others to have these side effects anyway.
Do you have nausea and/or diarrhea? This is another sign when starting of elevated serotonin. You are not taking amitriptyline are you? Also you have to avoid DM in cold remedies OTC. Do you use opiates? These might be additive for this side effect. |
Hey mrsD,
Thanks for your response! I am not taking anything else right now except IVIg therapy. I certainly noticed some burning in my hands and feet this morning after only one pill last night. I am hypersensitive to all meds. Lexapro has a warning on the label about parathesis, so I am already scared to take anymore. No nausea or diarrhea. No opiates. My new neuro says "To be honest, I think we should just try it" I feel that this may be a little to haphazard of an approach. I just started IVIg, how will I know if it is helping if the Lexapro is causing more burning? Would you risk it? N1 Quote:

I'd give the IVIG a chance, before using a new drug. But that is just me.
Some people don't handle SSRIs well, anyway. It is up to you. |
Agreed mrsD, I only want one iron in the fire.
Thanks N1 Quote:
