Free Vector Graphics?

DW & I are working on respective crazy quilt projects. This can involve a lot of embroidery, and since embroidery designs (for machine) can add up ($), we're digitizing a lot of our own. Most graphic formats (.jpg .png .gif .bmp) can get quite labor-intensive—prepping them for digitizing, however vector graphics (in .cdr format only) usually digitize in a snap, and the results are far superior to digitizing other formats.

So... We've done some extensive searching of Goggle Images without much luck, so we're looking for (perhaps) some off-the-beaten-path sources anyone might know of for free vector graphics in .cdr format. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Doc & Mrs. Doc

Take a look at Embroidermodder, it is free Open Source software that provides versions for Linux, Apple's OS X and Windows.

There are other vector graphics editors that might be interesting to look at:

Thanks; perhaps I wasn't clear (enough?). We have digitizing software—Bernina DesignerPlus (which includes a stripped-down version of CorelDRAW as its drawing/graphics editor); it's vector artwork to digitize into embroidery designs that we're seeking.

I took a look at Embroidermodder. It looks interesting, but DesignerPlus (despite its drawbacks) is a bit more functional/sophisticated. However the real deal-breaker is that Embroidermodder is not compatible with Bernina (and none of the embroidery formats it will handle are stable!)

We've run into a similar problem with vector files; many that are available free online are not in .cdr (CorelDRAW) format, and are not stable when loaded into the Corel editor, and/or when converted into .cdr format before loading.

Hence my OP seeking sources for free vector artwork in Corel (.cdr) format.

Computers are so much fun. :thud:

Free CDR vector art

Maybe these sites will be of some help. I'd imagine there isn't much available though.

http://www.vectorarts.net/tag/cdr/ (A few pages of CDR images)
http://www.free-logotypes.com/ (Nothing but Logos)

Here are stock photos that use the EPS format, which can be saved as CDR in CorelDraw.

http://www.canstockphoto.com/illustr...coreldraw.html
http://www.freepik.com/free-photos-vectors/coreldraw

According to this dated thread, it appears that CorelDraw comes with some free art.

Also, I don't know if this is helpful, but Inkscape to able to import CDR files and convert them to SVG.

Good luck!
