Was approved for Perm Total

I was hurt in '91, had a fusion, c6-7. Was able to go back to work but besides nerve pain, fought the headaches and dizziness since the injury. Was dianosed ON caused my headaches. In 2008 I was laid off, having trouble with the legnth and freqeuncy of the headaches. From 2008 to 2010 had a hard time finding a job, never missed an interview but was not always at my best, headaches, migranes and dizziness(vertigo). Took a part time job, ended up losing my house, car and everything I worked hard for. Had to move to FL and live with my Mom and stepdad, (been out on my own since I was 18). Anyway, I filed for perm total July 2012, my attorney said it is hard to received it..etc. On Dec 4, 2013 I had my hearing, after about 20 minutes, the hearing officer clicked his hammer and said I rule for Perm total. Couldn't believe it! I felt I would get SSDI but not workers comp perm total since everyone says it is such a long shot. Plus, over the years I didn't get the additional dianosis added to my claim. I know it won't be much, I was a 3rd year Pipefitter Apprentice in 91 when I got hurt. But for someone who's been taking care of herself most of her life, it will feel good.

I do have a question, since I was approved for Ohio Perm Total, will getting SSDI be easier or harder? I was making a lot more in 08 as a Project Manager so I'm hoping that will help so I can get out on my own again. I know I won't have what I did, just like to be able to take care of myself again.

Thanks to everyone for listening(reading:)

Opinion

I have recently come to terms with the idea that I might have to receive disability for this condition, and it crushes me. I have always been passionate about my work. I received my master's degree out of sheer willpower, and I just feel like I would be giving up a big part of who I am....I have had work issues as you have. I am down to the last resort of removing the nerves (bilateral). I will try that first, despite whatever consequences there are. Since it took you nearly 2 years to get SSDI, should this be something that I am pursuing now? Also, do you know any of the requirements of temporary just in case permanent doesn't end up being what I want?

do
