Pillows-neck-which has helped the most
 
There are 198 threads containing a reference to pillows on this forum. If there is a thread specifically dedicated to pillows please direct me there. I'm still learning my way around this forum, so I may need a bit of direction.

If anyone has recommendations as to which pillow has helped the most would you kindly respond. I will make my decision about purchase according to the most popular response and work my way down until I find one that helps me the most.

A thin one that keeps your neck in line with your spine, meaning it does not lift it. It is also recommended to sleep only on your back and put a pillow under your knees. I did that last night and really liked it.

I have been working on my posture and it's making my spine hurt a lot but I guess it's the only way to go. This sleeping on my back is hurting me too but we must do it, otherwise we just keep compressing the nerves further.

I have found the Sobukawa pillow has been the most comfortable for me & I have bought at least 6 different types of pillows. I found it at BB & Beyond.
Laying on my non-operative side is the only way I can be comfortable? & the pillow can be maneuvered into all the "nooks & crannies" because the pillow is filled with micro beads, so it is flexible but is supportive.....it did take alittle getting used to but by far has worked best for me than the other ones I bought.

Also, I had surery complications which now requires me to sleep with a wedge type pillow for my breathing and I find the micro bead pillow helps keep my neck in a better position.

Early on I had to sleep on my back with padding wrapped round my elbows, as they were sensitive to pressure from mattress...
Now I mostly side sleep using a generic tempurpedic contour pillow, the smallest size worked best for me at first but now the medium is fine.

There are so many shapes now, basically if large framed a larger size/thickness small frame smaller size.
I would ask about return policy for costly ones , just in case it doesn't fit well for you.


I tried a cheap micro bead type, but the smell and the noise they made bothered me too much LOL..

As Coop mentions find something that fits and doesn't place your head/neck out of best position..

Just read this and didnt get anything out of it, so I posted my own thread hoping that folks here submit some ideas on what pillows they are using?

I have serious cervical spine damage with headaches and migraines weekly so therefore seeking input on what are the best pillows members use. This thread didnt provide any help at all so I pray mine does???

I use something like this under my head http://www.target.com/p/room-essenti...Y+FOAM+PILLOWS. I'm a side sleeper so what works best for me is placing a down filled pillow under my torso and laying my head on the memory foam contour pillow. It creates just enough extra space for my shoulder so it's not pressed into the mattress (which causes it to roll forward). This has worked the best for me so far. I've also heard about the my pillow http://www.mypillow.com/. I've been wanting to try it but it is super spendy.
