incompetent drs.

So I went and finally got the staples removed yesterday by the same dr that did my c section. ? I swear this dr is incompetent. I still have massive bruising on legs and belly. He put on steri strips and those immediately started coming off at the bottom. So now I have an open incision that I had to bandage up. I tried to tell him to numb me before taking out the staples and he ignored me. I told him repeatedly I have CRPS and he gave me a blank look. I will be filing a complaint today about how he's "taken care" of me. I also have to go back in and have something done about this incision being open and bleeding again. I went in yesterday about it still bleeding on day 10. Now its day 11 and I still have the bleeding and an open wound. Ugh the only thing he's gotten right was counting all the surgical instruments and gauze before closing me up. Well and that my son is alive and well after he was born. Wish me luck. If I don't get some satisfaction from him today I may seriously consider a malpractice suet on him.

Sometimes I wonder how some of these doctors have gotten thru medical school. I saw a neurologist once (he was a resident at a teaching hospital here) and told him I had RSD. He looked at me with his head cocked to the side and said "R..S..D..?" I cannot tell you on here what I said to myself  The doctor I was seeing there finished his residency and moved over to doing EMG's...he was WONDERFUL. Naturally i did not return to the idiot. Unfortunately I have seen way too many drs like this. It still amazes me.

Is there any way you can see another dr, maybe in the same practice? I would try that and be persistent (as I am sure you will)! You definitely need to get this taken care of so you don't get an infection.

Good Luck!!

That ridiculous. I think those kind of doctors have lost their passion. He probably doesn't know what CRPS is but he should have asked you. It's not that difficult. It's a basic necessity to get it done correctly. You should knock on his head and ask if there's anyone home.

RSD is hard enough to deal with. If something goes really wrong report him!!!
I hope it gets better!!

Hi Allanira

Maybe you should consider going to the ER and get the wound taken care of. If he did such a bad job, I wouldn't want to go back to the same person either. You don't want to have an infection. It is hard enough to heal from a C. Hope you get a new doctor soon! ginnie

If you feel there is any possibility of malpractice, start a journal today and write down everything. You will forget plenty, and having it will give you more ammo. Write down names of nurses, what each one said, exact stuff you'll need later.

I'm sorry this happened. Getting another opinion right now is good.

This is so scary...one of many reasons I am generally terrified of going to the doctor. So many just don't want to listen to their patients and I'm just not okay with that. You should definitely complain and make sure your complaint gets as far up the chain as possible. It's just unacceptable.

Everyone has a boss! Find out who his is and call / write that person with details of your experience. And, stay on top of caring for that wound. Chaos -keeping a journal is a great idea. Is there a Nurse Practitioner in the practice? S/He could look after the healing of that wound for you.

I saw a different Dr in the same clinic after refusing to ever see that one again. He got new steri strips to actually hold. He also said that there was no sign of infection starting and it was healing from the bottom up. He said to keep it clean, dry and covered so no dirt gets in and so it doesn't get rubbed on by pants and underwear. I like the one I saw yesterday. He says it like it is and he listened to me explain about CRPS. He was also the one that was supposed to do my scheduled csection but this lo decided to come on the 23rd instead of the 31st lol. I will be going in to file a complaint about the one Dr because of how he treated me. I also found out that he was in a rush when he did my csection because he had a party to get to. Doesn't explain why he treated me crappy on Thursday though. He's a jerk and I will never go back to him. Ok here's the conversation when he got ready to remove my staples lol.
Dr: I'm going to remove the staples and put on steri strips.
Me: whatever just make sure its closed. Oh yeah the steri strips probably won't hold because you didn't shave the incision site.
Dr: you don't look very confident in my ability.
Me: should I after the way the incision looks to me and how much it hurts? You didn't listen about my CRPS, you didn't shave the site. Should I honestly have confidence in you?
Dr: well yes.
Me: hmmmm what ever just do it.
The nurses face was priceless in the fact she was trying her hardest not to laugh at him, and cheer me on. The nurses don't like him.

Re: Hi allanira

If ever one wants to know about their physician, just look at how the nurses and staff are around him. Good clue about that physician.ginnie:hug:

Allanira,
I'm so upset for you!! Sounds like they sound have waited until you healed better and have you come back.
Bad Dr. treating you that way!! Yes, I know "the look". That blank stare, then
the over confident pretense that they know.
Keep us posted.
