Surgery next week
I am having surgery next week under full anaesthesia. Its a female related elective surgery. I am not happy about having surgery again but my issue will only get worse as I get older therefore I am electing to do something about it now. I had emergency spinal surgery in 2011 and it went well. I did not have a flare of my PN from either surgery or meds. The surgeon now requested a clearance from my neuro before he would operate on me. My neuro was fine with it.
The hospital sent me some paperwork to fill out and under the allergy/ medication sensitivity area I listed all the antibiotics that are contraindicated for PN. I am really worried for some reason as my PN does flare on antibiotics after a few days and then subsides when I stop taking them. I have had mild 3-4 day flares with Bactrim, penicillin, and also diflucun. Although with my last operation I had IV antibiotics and had no flare. I don't know I guess I am just worried about my surgery and thinking too far ahead. Is there anything I should consider or have to remember as a precaution in terms of surgery/anasthaesia? I just feel like I may be forgetting something important. Thank you, Aussie |
On the patient form that you sign for the surgeon the day of surgery there may be a section that will give a resident the opportunity to do some of the surgery. It states something along the line of the surgeon and/or. I cross that out. I hate to say it but for surgery I only want the surgeon working on me.
