Thanks for posting that. It is so funny. Laughing out loud here.

Sometimes they are... they want to be petted & stroked, then all of a sudden they aim a whack or chomp!! Or they rub around on my easel and make my painting fall off of it..

My dogs have never done that..
but then again cats don't bark...which can be a good thing, but not very helpful in the protection front..

Jerks or not.......I love my kitties!!

I've known too many human "total jerks" to last me a lifetime. I can deal with a cats eccentricities. ;)

My cats are quite loving. You can say the word chicken in a low tone in any room of the house, and Weezie will appear.
She does not come when she hears her name in the house however. But outside, when we call her she comes. Our previous cats came from outside too. Oreo to a lesser extent, but our others were quite good about it.

Maya on the other hand will come when she hears her name in the house. She expects excitement from play, and maybe a food treat, but not always. When hubby puts on his hat she is all over him knowing he is leaving on an errand.

When I talk to Weezie, she often squeals a reply.. If I ask if she is happy...she will roll for me. She is much more responsive to us than most cats are to people. And I think the "jerk" behavior goes both ways. Empathetic owners of cats, get much more response than owners who try to CONTROL cats like dogs for obedience. But that is only my opinion and 40+ yrs of cat ownership.

I think cats are very in-tune with human emotions.

When I'm not feeling well my cats seem to know. They make attempts to snuggle more then than they do at other times.

All three know what "are you hungry" and "want some crunchies?" mean. I can say either and all three heads pop up! :D

Tigger has attempted to say some words. I say the phrase "mama loves you" to them all day. At times Tigger will make a "mah mah" sound almost like he's trying to say "mama". At least that's what I think it sounds like! :o

Yes, I believe they try to talk.... Maya sometimes says WOW now.
We had a cat that said going gooooinnngggg... only in the car.
Sheba used to say MA.... mostly to hubby asking where I was...since I worked so many hours weekly. Our son used to call me "Ma"...so she took up doing that after him.

Maya made vocal talking sounds all the way home from vacation this year... most sounded like out and variants of out. ooo
.
oooooww etc low moaning as well. She does not do this at home.
I was very surprised.

I do believe Tigger is saying ma to you. ;)

And of course Weezie does the Weeeeeeee sound every day more than once. (that is why we named her Weezie).

BTW.... Weezie brought me a black twist-em, yesterday for our old game of "fetch".... Maya was sleeping and didn't horn in...like she does.

Weez squealed and ran for it and brought it back to me just like the kitten days! I thought she had forgotten about it.
We played about 1/2 hr too! Only black twist-ems. Don't know why she is so attached to them... but she is.

Maya checks them out and does the equivalent of "ppfffffftttt" LOL
She doesn't understand them either.

Hubby bought some things at Lowe's today, and one of them had a wonderful large black twist-em to add to Weezie's collection (which is in a box BTW on the floor near one of the cat trees. I put it next to the computer here for her to "find"... ;)
