how do you deal with anxiety?

I try to plan relaxing moments for myself. I try to build my schedule knowing that I will need time in the day to clear my head. I will carry small projects and distractions such as, knitting, books, music, or a journal to write in. When none of that seems to be helping I am a fan of mental health days where I just take a day to rest and recoup.

I sit in the recliner or lay in bed with no noise at all......just quietly try to clear my head and do some deep breathing.....it that doesn't work.....I take 1/2 a Xanax (don't have to do this very often).

I try to distract myself with music or tv or mindless internet surfing.

Sometimes I got to a cool website i found called calm.com and they have guided meditation for free and you can choose the number of minutes you think you can tolerate. I can only handle 2 to 5 minutes of the soothing guided meditation because my brain starts to activate after that time is up.

Working with a Psychotherapist will offer you the best results. You will learn new copings skills such as proper breathing, how to stop an anxiety attack before it gets bad and how "wrong thinking" causes and/or intensifies anxiety/panic attacks, and much more.
