Erika--a cinnamon and honey remedy
Erika, last night I somehow stumbled into a naturopathic column from hawaii, the website of Hesh Goldstein. He may be over-hyping the benefits of raw honey and Ceylon cinnamon as a cure for about everything, but he put special emphasis on joint pain. And I thought of your joint pain.
He insists, and other sites do too, the Ceylon cinnamon is the only way to fly, not the cheaper "cassia" cinnamon found in supermarkets. I ordered some last night from Amazon. He also emphasizes the need for raw honey rather than pasteurized. I have been taking some raw honey for a while. He has different ratios of cinnamon and honey to take, but I think an average would be a half tsp. of Ceylon cinnamon and one to two tablespoons of honey per day. He thinks the organic sulfur in this stuff is what cures. For me, with porphyria, I have to cut back on some sulfur (no one can escape it all) so I am going carefully with this. He says organic sulfur is "different" from the VOG that comes out of Kiluea. Anyway, I thought I'd tell you what he said, hoping it might be worth a try. I am convinced that there may be a superiority to organic Ceylon cinnamon. I will start low, of course, with l/4 tsp. cinnamon and half a tsp. of honey, but my joint pain is nowhere near as severe as yours. |
