Weird Eye Problems
 

:confused: Been having weird sensation behind my eyes. As if the part of my brain that controls my eyes is spinning to the right. Not the eyes themselves. It's not nystagmus, but a sense of movement in my brain that effects my eyes. It's not particularly painful, and doesn't get worse when I move my eyes, so I know its not optic neuritis either. It is uncomfortable and in the sun can stop me in my tracks and I have to close my eyes for a moment. It's something I have had for years, though until now it had been transitory, but it's been everyday for several days, and today the feeling hasn't completely gone away entirely. I just had an eye exam last month and was prescribed new glasses so it's nothing that showed up on standard tests.

Anyone else ever experience this? I'll be calling my neuro and asking for a referral to a neurological ophthalmologist, but dread the drive to the city. Ugh.

Ouff, that's a different one Catch. I can't even imagine how it must feel for you, I know the sensory stuff's really tricky to describe in words to fully get across what it is that you're feeling/the sensation.

Good on you to go to the neurologist and ask for an eye specialist to get to the bottom of things. :hug:

I didn't find it easy to get a dx when I had "optic neuritis", and it took a long time. First two didn't see anything wrong. Third one saw me after I'd had an abnormal MRI (scars in L. brain, opposite the affected eye) and had had Visual Evoked Response. I guess the third one had to accept that something was wrong. Later it got worse--visible sagging of lid, which he photographed, then it suddenly went away completely years later. I had double vision, pain when watching TV or movies, pain when moving eye too much.
Just saying that specialists don't always dx. Please don't ask why, but it is horribly frustrating to have double vision and have opthalmologists say I did not. I hope your condition is more easily diagnosed.
One of the things I've lived with since age 17 is that sometimes doctors claim I do not have the symptom I have. This is less common now that I am old and have other dx's as well. They believe

Thanks for the input. Mariel, thanks for sharing your experience. :) From what you said, this may be optic neuritis, but not really typical. Since my ms is well documented, I doubt they will have much trouble figuring this out. My only fear is this had been happening off and on for years and now gotten worse. I'm PPMS now and I'm afraid it won't get better.
