I was using B12 and my labs came back at I believe 1200 High is it best just not to take it as often?

I have been jerking in the am from what I thought was Tramadol use. They eased up some after weeks but this am spasms were in my stomach. It felt like a popping sensation Does this happen?

I have that internal vibe too seems to be getting more progressive.

You have to stop taking B12 a couple days to a week before testing.

Mine came back at 4,000 but I didn't stop taking it. Either way, a regular B12 test is not an accurate test of B12 active as it contains even unactive B12.

I used the MMA test to really know.

And, if you are using B12 regularly--
 

--1200 is not all that high a reading; many of us who take large oral doses in the 1000mcg to 5000mcg range daily have much higher readings on blood testing.

As Mrs. D says, you may get a more accurate reading if you stop supplementation a few weeks before a blood draw.

And as Stacy hints, a more accurate way to tell if one is B12 deficient is to have MMA and homocysteine testing prior to supplementation (or after laying off the supplementation for a while).

A nice high level of B12 in the blood means it will more easily pass
into the spinal cord and brain, as this is dependent on serum availability. Low serum means low cerebrospinal fluid levels.

Most people using 1mg -5mg daily orally should get at least to
1000pg/ml. Most hospitals and labs do not calibrate higher than 2000... so getting really high is not easily measurable at most labs.
