Bradycardia

Oh the joys of worrying... I did a search here and found mention that it can be related to SFN. Is this true?

I ask because since I stopped smoking, I started taking my BP a couple of times a day to check if everything is OK.

The BP is fine, ranging from 125/75 (max) to 110/65 in the evening. But it seems my RHR is pretty low: on average it is 54, but sometimes it drops to below 50 (48 being the lowest).

That either means I'm extremely healthy or... not. I don't have any problem with fainting or feeling dizzy, but I do feel a bit tired lately even though I'm sleeping a lot (I assumed that was because of the nicotine detox).

I'll probably go to my GP (again...), but I wondered if anyone here had any experience with this?

I am having some bradycardia too. But then I am on a beta blocker now.

But since I do a BP log, I found it in Nov...two days of 48. That is low for me. I have always been 70-80, resting.

I had been having some aberrant racing times, and elevated T4's so I am not taking my thyroid hormone for a trial period and am getting retested next month. I am actually feeling much better without it. Sometimes people with thyroid issues, swing back and forth hypo to hyper... so for me it is still unresolved until the test results.

But smoking does speed up the heart rate. The nicotine etc does it. I'd keep a log each day, and take your pulse when you get up in the morning before food, and say after you largest meal.
Your rate should go up after a large meal. If you find things that worry you or have symptoms, write them down in the log.

This will help your doctor when you go next to decide what is normal, adjustment to non-smoking and what may be wrong organically.

A log is a good idea.

I just happened to have a meal; the resting HR is 69 now, so it seems I do react normally there.

I'll keep writing it down and give it another few weeks. The change with the smoking cessation is a lot bigger than I first imagined - but then again, I smoked so much for such a long time, maybe I shouldn't be surprised.

17 days now, not easy at all, but still absolutely determined.
