Coffee Lovers
I love my coffee. Have to have it. I have two cups of regular coffee in the morning and if I want more I drink decaf later in the day.
Since my MS has progressed it's made it harder for me to do intricate tasks with my hands. My Keurig coffee maker has been a Godsend. But the K-cups were so cost prohibitive I was still using the "do-it-yourself" K-cup where you add your own coffee. I would make a huge mess and an even bigger mess trying to clean the holder after the coffee was done brewing. I went on a mission to find a reasonable costing K-Cup. Here is what I found: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...pf_rd_i=507846 $29.75 for 80 - yes 80 - K-cups!! .37 cents per cup versus about .70-.90 cents per cup for other brands. I bought some and they are wonderful! They work exactly like your plastic K-cup. Fits the Keurig brewer and makes a great cup of coffee. I just wanted to share this because I know, at least for me, every penny is budgeted. |
I bought SIL a mini-Keurig for Christmas and also bought him a mesh cup so he can use his own coffee, which is much cheaper. Of course, he doesn't have hand problems that might make a mess filling it…
Anyway, glad you found more affordable Kcups!!:) |
I bought this for my parents when I got them their Keurig machine for their anniversary. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
My dad thinks it works better than the one that came with the machine. I'd use our Keurig more often, if our local grocery store could restock the hot chocolate k-cups faster. Every time I go to the grocery store, they're ALWAYS out of the hot chocolate k-cups. (I don't drink coffee) I'm about to start getting them from Amazon. I did that when I bought the machine from Amazon back in November. Nice thing about buying from Amazon is that I can use my Amazon Prime membership to get them sent to me with the 2-day shipping. No going to to the store, and it comes straight to my front door. |
Erin, the Keurig comes with a cup similar to the one you purchased for your parents but with my MS progression it's becoming harder and harder to use it. I make a terrible mess. I need something easy. Coffee is one of my last simple pleasures and I don't want it to become a daily chore.

gosh, thanks kitty. i love my keurig.
since i just decided to start living on my ssdi check that is good news. my friends said they found a great deal at costco. i think (memory fuzzy) they got 100 k-cups for $40. i'll have to ask them and tell you. |
We have a keurig at work and I keep a box of cups there. I also find that Amazon has the best price per unit. At home we still use a regular coffee maker but in the future if we switch to a home keurig we will get those lower priced units as well.

Maybe I should get one of those Keurig thingys? I'm not much for coffee,
but Erin mentioned "hot chocolate":D. And I do like some lattes. Do they make a mini, for just one person? Can you order separately, just the k cups you want or do you have to purchase them in groups? |
you can't order them separately but you can get smaller quantities even in the grocery store.
they make hot chocolate, hot apple cider, teas, coffees. you can have iced coffee but i'm not sure about the lattes. i'm used to ordering mine from green mtn coffee but i get at least 4 boxes and will probably switch to amazon. they do make a personal size machine. i can't remember how much. i've seen it on QVC; i think $100. |
Sally, I have the personal sized Keurig.......http://www.keurig.com/brewers/mini-p...brewing-system. I love it.
You can get tea, hot chocolate, flavored coffee and even cold drink K-cups from the grocery store and from lots of different sites. |
I have the machine and llove it! I joined Keurig.com and get a discount. The boxes of 24 cost about $14 and their shipping is reasonable. I will check the amazon site. Thanks for the heads up!
