Did anyone see,"Man of Steel"?
 

This Superman movie is the best movie that I've seen in years. Brokenfriend:grouphug:

I agree it was a great movie about an alien who comes to earth as an infant from a dying planet, grows up developing super powers, uses them to fight for truth, justice and all that stuff, and saves the earth from conquest/destruction...

...but it wasn't "Superman". :rolleyes:

To put it another way...

Actually I thought that it was a very interesting,clever,well written,and newer version of Superman. It had that rogue general,Krypton explodes,and Clark lands in a spaceship in Kansas. He had the same Earth parents,and saves peoples lives. He had the same Krypton parents. He became Clark Kent at the Daily Planet at the end of the movie. He put eye glasses on in the elevator before he was introduced to the people in the Daily Planet.

The whole film was interesting,and there where no boring parts in the movie.

I don't read the comics. I only watch the movies. At the time,I thought that the 1977 Superman movie was wonderful. For the time it was a very enjoyable movie. Man of Steel is a very enjoyable movie to me.

I thought that the movie that came out around 2005,or 2006,"Superman Returns"was not as good as the others. It was OK.

I don't know if you know the story of those films. Superman Returns was a long time in the making (since the Superman IV debacle). The first 2 movies in that series were ok, despite the production complications of Superman II (I liked the 2007 Donner Cut better), but the series went drastically downhill from there. Returns was made as if Superman III & IV had never been made (not exactly a reboot, but an alternate timeline like the new Star Trek series—don't get me started.) :rolleyes: :D There's a lot more history in-between, but I can't find a good (i.e. complete) version of it online.

Very good. I know what you mean. In the Star Trek film Christopher Pike's death does not match up with the 1965,or1966 Star Trek TV series where he ends up on that planet with the blond lady,and those beings who make them imagine different lives. I could go on,and on about that to. They are starting to change the situations in these movies,but I'm enjoying them anyway. It's better having them then not having anything at all. Brokenfriend :)

Sometimes I wonder. Growing up, one of the first books/series I ever read was E.R. Burroughs' A Princess of Mars. I waited (literally) 50 years—a half century (and likely more than half my lifetime)—for that movie to be made. At one point, Jon Favreau (director of Iron Man 1 & 2 and Cowboys & Aliens) was talking about directing it; his vision was to do a trilogy of the first 3 books in the series—faithful to the original books. My heart leapt. Instead, we got another debacle so bad it ruined the prospects for another Barsoom movie anytime soon. They basically waved the book over it, with a Disney-ized version of Woola. I could go on for days, and that's one instance where I think I would welcome a reboot if Favreau were put in charge to realize his concept.

Changes were made in Lord of the Rings too, but nothing like the kind they made in John Carter. Despite the necessary licences taken (for technical and other film-making reasons), we still have a masterpiece telling the same story.
