Flu, just brought oldest home from the hospital

If you haven't had the flu shoot yet, run to get it. This years strain has been filling our hospitals around here. It is a terrible strain.

Well, my oldest, Mr. To busy to get his flu shoot was in the hospital since Monday night. It took us 6 hrs waiting in ER with a temp of 103* and sprains and strains being seen before he got in. His neck and head hurt so bad from working that day and sitting upright in the chairs for so long he wanted to just go home,

All the people were exposed to him while they waited for a bed. No mask, no isolated waited area...I was po'd for sure. To top it, this was the anniversary of my De's passing.

Because of the stiff neck and bad headache they did a lumbar puncture. During the procedure his heart rate nose dived and he saw the bright lights and tinny sounds escaping away as he drifted from lack of oxygen. They got his heart rate back and he was shaken up. The LP was not productive and they ended up admitting him and doing it in the oR under florascope.

The nurse in the desk across from the ER room was named DeAnne. When we got to his room it was three away from the one De spent a month in with the flesh eating virus. Some of the same nurses were there.

Difficult day. I was up 36 hrs. Went home slept and went back down with cloths and soup. He was sweated through his...the temp out was -4*! It's been so cold since Tuesday again with another polar blast. It's not going away anytime soon either.

I brought him home today. It was 9* out....So now even though I had my flu shot, my asthma is flaring, I lost my voice and feel so exhausted.
I need some sun and warmth on my skin! :sunchair:

I hope that we all stay healthy. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Bizi, they gave him the shot in the hospital, there are a few flus it covers.

Thanks everyone,
I ended up with bronchitis from running in the zero and below temps. It flared the asthma which makes the bronchitis. Lost my voice too.
Dh had to cover my work hours this week. Now I need to feel better for work this week. Still in the deep freeze through the week ahead.

You're so right Steve,
It's double duty on the body.
