I had this weird rash on my arm 2 years ago and I have been sick ever since. I have terrible headaches pain on the back of my neck swollen lymph node in my neck on the back. ringing in my ears, severe burning on the back of the neck shoulders chest wall my left arm weird pains in my feet. I cannot tell you how severe the burning is. I cannot tolerate it. I cry in pain. I don't notice it so much when I am moving around but when I sit it is terrible and esp at night. can anyone offer any suggestions? i have percocet, and vicodin I take and it does help. I have a rx for neurontin I took before then stopped. I started taking celebrex which helps a little. I can't imagine what is making this so bad. |
Welcome to Neurotalk--
--though I am truly sorry for what has brought you here.
It does sound as if you have not had anywhere near as comprehensive a work-up or as specialized an evaluation as you should. Lyme and other tick-borne diseases can certainly result in neurologic symptoms, including neuropathy, but as you may be aware there is much controversy as to the efficiency and accuracy of many of the tests for Lyme and other tick borne infections--one really has to get to a specialty center and/or Lyme literate physician . . . Also, if you had trouble with Neurontin/gabapentin, which is often given as a first line medication for neurologic pain, you may want to try one of the other anit-epileptics or even an anti-depressant (the latter, in smaller doses than uses for depression, have proven effective in some for neural pain and there may some evidence that one of them, Elavil, can even help damaged nerves regenerate). You definitely (if you haven't already) look at our Lyme and Peripheral Neuropathy sections: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/fo...sprune=-1&f=91 http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/fo...sprune=-1&f=20 |
