Article on nutrition and tissue regeneration

Came across this and thought it may be helpful for those interested in nutrition for healing nerves.

That is cool. I just ordered curcumin too and it tops the list.

Nice article. I think the body has much greater capacity for healing than we give it credit for, and sadly our mainstream doctors know little about this. It's so sad that most medical research and education is about how to cover up symptoms with drugs rather than into how to heal the conditions that afflict us. It seems to be all about money. How can we turn this around?

I think it has to start with the doctors....I visited a hematologist. Once he saw my list of supplements, he started lecturing me about the "no studies to show the benefits of supplements". I just politely replied that without the supplements, I might not be able to function the way I do. He shook his head endlessly...We just agree to disagree. This was my first experience with a doctor who was outrightly against the supplements. Some doctors I see on a regular basis may not be supplements enthusiasts but at least they kept mum about it as courtesy.

I don't know about that. Voltaire said:
The art of medicine consists of amusing the patient while nature cures the disease.”
I know of more than one doctor who has this on his/her wall, and many more who freely admit to it.

OTOH, Voltaire also said:
Doctors are men who prescribe medicines of which they know little, to cure diseases of which they know less, in human beings of whom they know nothing.”
I know I just cited this article in another thread, but I think it has relevance here as well:
Everything Causes Cancer
(It has more to do with foods, studies, and statistics.)
And we can temper it with...
Statisticians can prove almost anything, a new study finds
"Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. Forty percent of all people know that." —Homer Simpson
Famous Statistics Quotes
:Clever: ...And let us not forget the percent of statistics made up on the spot! :D

Here is an example of deceptive math.

Yesterday morning we saw a 300% increase
in weather temperature . It was 3 degrees F.--
up from zero overnight.

This is the type of thing one can encounter
in studies. ;)

Um... not sure if I agree with your math there. 300% of zero is still zero. ;) It'd work with ONE degree though, in both F AND C! :D

Math aside, that kind of change is better/best calculated from Kelvin (which is absolute). Zero degrees F is ~255 degrees Kelvin. 3 degrees F is ~257 degrees K, for an increase of 257/255 = ~0.8% (0.0078431372549019607843137254902) :D

Interesting article. I must admit I started to look differently at medicine since I had this disease.

But to be fair to the docs: my GP told me that if she would advise her patients who, for example, are pre-diabetic, or have high cholesterol/triglycerides, that they can go a long way to curing it by changing the way they eat, she would be out of a job in a matter of months. People seems to love the simplicity of disease-pill-cure.

She reckons it works like that for 87.432% of her patients. ;)

...and she's OK with that (NOT telling patients) ethically?

...and you're OK with a doctor like that?

I guess the next logical question is/should be, what ELSE isn't she telling her patients—or doing for them—including you? :Hum:

Every doctor I've had has come right out and told me (and their other patients) that people can go a long way toward staying healthy/living longer by 1.) not smoking or doing drugs, 2.) eating/drinking sensibly, 3.) getting regular exercise, and 4.) wearing a seatbelt; and has warned me about potential consequences if/when I had abnormal test results, and advised me (how) to improve them by changing my diet/lifestyle when applicable. I spoze that's why getting PN has been doubly frustrating/puzzling, because I have diligently taken care of myself. But as those doctors have also freely acknowledged, medicine doesn't know everything.

Maybe it is a good thing that there's a shortage of doctors here that they don't have to resort to such sins of omission to keep their jobs(?) :Dunno:
