Hoping for an Answer

Hi everyone

I have been looking for an answer for three years. Racked up crushing medical debt with every test in the book and the doctors just shrug their shoulders, they have no clue. My legs feel weak and in the front thighs (quadriceps). It is like I have been trudging through a foot of water all day and I am still walking through it forcing my legs forward with each step. That is the best way I can explain it. My legs don't hurt But it is incredibly bothersome and impacts everything I try to do. I honestly believed I had something life threatening or at least serious MS, Parkinsons, something. There is no way my legs could feel this bad for this long and nothing be wrong. But three year later and hopelessly in debt nothing. Does anything about this sound familiar to anyone? I know I am grasping at straws here but I am desperate.

I have had this but recently also had some pain..I'm still looking for answers and it is bad when you know something is not normal but you do not know what it is and if nobody know what it is then you can not get treatment. I hope you find out what it is. Shirley

One year in and still looking myself. I was dx w/Periferal Neurapathy and as such I have been cruising that forum and was happy to see your entry but sad that you were also looking for answers. I had a car wreck and took a hard hit up the right leg as I was standing on the brake. Three days later I had a (burning pathway) from hip to insede the knee crossing over the quad. Soon began water therapy, then psycal therapy and they sent me home early as I was loosing muscle mass. 60 days in I was lying in bed and felt crossfiring to left side and I got excited that it might be a good thing,WRONG, it just involved the left side. My current symptoms are lumbar pain, quad and hip adductor weakness to the point I use a walker and have to lift my leg to get in a vehicle. I have an appt w/ another neuro coming up in Aug. I feel that I may have been lumped w/ others as soon as I said I was diabetic. My second opinion was dissapointing as th neuro said he totally agreed with the first and no treatment plan no advise other than go home and lose weight I will continue to search this forum for similar symptoms. Also you might search Arthrogenic Muscle Inhibition as these seemed to be fairly close. Good hunting Ken in Texas

Hi there,
I have essential tremor that showed up in my early 50's - so not handy for a photographer!! 2 years ago I had both hips replaced as they had fused to my femurs and it was just one mass - I couldn't bend in the middle... I also had had knee issues - they are both basically bone on bone, but since they found displaysia when they did the hip replacements I figured I'd wait and see if anything changed. In an effort to get back into shape, I began working out with a video shortly after the first hip replacement and promptly pulled my left groin muscle. It's taken over a year to get over that. But I was doing really well, considering, strolling right along instead of waddling like a penguin in pain because everything was stuck together.
One night a couple of months ago I was at dinner with some friends and had been fine before. When I went to get up, I had a weakness in the middle of my left thigh - that was a cross between a cramp and a failure of the muscle - and it hurt!! I had to get myself up using the table and the chair. That whole evening and the next few days were really difficult. I thought the muscle issue might be electrolyte deficiencies? I had taken Miralax a couple of nights in a row for constipation that hadn't been remedied with stool softeners. So I ate white beans, banana, potato - and it seemed to begin to heal - but it hasn't gone away. I still feel a weakness - sometimes better and sometimes worse in my left quadricep. Now I'm beginning to get cramping in the back of my left thigh and left calf. I should probably get out and walk more - maybe swim - since I sit at the computer working most of the time. I also was looking into how gluten might be an issue with essential tremor. Since essential tremor can affect more than just hands and arms I am thinking of going gluten free and seeing how that does. With my hips and all - and no jobs - I haven't been able to work very much - oh - yes - and the essential tremor! I sure do empathize with you. I'm glad I haven't shelled out any money I don't have for tests if they haven't found any causes with you.
Have you looked into gluten as a possible irritant?
Best wishes!
Sooz
