All your computers and android phones? Everything was hacked??
That is unusual I think, unless maybe one person sent an email or something to all the others and it had the virus or trojan in it...
best of luck getting all fixed..

Tho biz wants to play it down, prob gov too. Will get thru it:( somehow. Surprised cuz none of us generally huge sharers of info not do we have much.;)think new tech wild west out there and also ironically, contemporary biz model.

How is Firefox better for these things?

(Sorry if this sounds dumb.)

moving forward

when I first posted this, it was before all the news stories had come out re hackers. Well, I have come to the conclusion it's an all too common experience and we just stay as secure as we can and live our lives in the best way possible. It will be ok. Thanks all for responding, and the best:)

Firefox is available for Windows, MacOS, Linux and Android. It is "open-source" software which means that anybody can see the computer code and suggest improvements - these are considered by Mozilla (which produces it).

Chrome (available for Windows, MacOS, Linux and Android) is also open-source. Suggested improvements to it are considered by Google, which releases it.

I use both Firefox and Chrome.

As far as anti-malware software is concerned, AVG is good. Malwarebytes is also worth checking out. It is available for Windows and Android and (in my experience) efficiently zaps malware on my laptop on the rare occasions that it gets infected.

Kiwi33,
I am back with my first smartphone and connected up by family for the first time since Dial-up days. The first thing I did was download AVG onto my phone and laptop (well, I had my son-in-law do it), and then I added it to my new tablet as soon as it came out of the box.
I agree with you that it is a great product, and you cannot beat peace of mind. I also have anti-theft, remote camera etc on my phone.
The thing to remind everyone is to keep your anti-virus software up to date. Even though I use my laptop infrequently - the weight hurts and the screen bothers my vision - I still log on every couple of months and update everything.

Dave.

I agree 100%.

It does not matter how good some anti-virus software may be - if its malware definitions are not up to date (preferably automatically) then it will not be able to do its job.

Feb 18, 2015: thanx will try suggestions and enjoying life despite it all. I now see it is fairly common. people try to steal houses to flip, whatever they can, etc., but we just keep moving on. It is a challenge due to today's pay systems, but it will be ok. I have seen this year that it is not at all an unusual problem and many have suffered such. Just gotta keep moving on and thanks all, be well:)
