Fun with flares
On Tuesday night I bashed my finger a wee bit. It was pretty hard but it didn't leave a mark. Of course, it was a finger on my right hand, you guessed it, my CRiPSy hand. Well, since last night my entire arm has been extra painful in all sorts of ways - allodynia, burning, stabbing, crushing, etc - you guys know the symptoms. Everything has been intensified so much since last night. It has been so bad I had to take off from work today. I hate doing that. One of my big fears is that I will get to the point where I am no longer able to work. As it is now, it is a big struggle every day.
I have been taking tramadol today and have had no pain reduction though it did allow me a short..erm...not a nap exactly. I get in this state with tramadol; I am not quite asleep but so very nearly asleep. I would prefer an actual nap but a wee tram daze is a bit of rest at least. Now it is getting late (after 11:30pm here in London). I am still in much more pain than 'usual'. Does anyone have any magic cures that would make me fit for work by morning? :thud: I will probably wind up dragging myself in but right now I just don't see how. Okay, sorry for the whinge but it feels better getting it out sometimes. Thanks for reading it. Kim |
I just hope it goes down for you and is not a permanent spread
|
Thanks Kev. It is always a worry with this beast, isn't it? It seems like there is just no telling what will cause a spread or permanent worsening. So far, after starting off in my hand and wrist, it has worked its way up my arm a to my shoulder and beyond. I have burning on the right side of my neck and my ear lately.
And the rotten thing is, I know I've been lucky so far. I know there are people like you who are going through so much worse. I have to say, I did think of you when I bashed my finger. To clarify what happened, I hit the tip of my finger on the point of a nail which was poking out. It didn't puncture the skin or even leave a mark but you wouldn't have known that from the way it felt...still feels. Kim Quote:

Apart from having to fight this with no medication I actually think you and a lot of the others are much worse off then I am. So far only hand arm and both legs. Probably shouldn't have said that where's my 36 yards of cotton wool

36 yards of cotton wool? Sounds like a plan. :)
I managed to drag myself through work today and my mission now is to try to get some sleep. I hope you have had a relatively low pain day today, well, as low as can be expected. I have to say hand, arm and both legs sounds pretty challenging to me. Take care. Kim Quote:

Kim I had very similar to what ur describing after I broke half a nail off on my cripsy-side hand. It lasted for about a month, and I worried constantly that it was spread or worsening. In the end it wasn't, and from that and other dramas I've had, I've learnt that when you injure yourself anywhere, your system is now on CRPS High Alert, and overreacts to everything. So for a short time you get a lot of cripsy symptoms, but most of the time they do fade with time. The best thing is to...
a) DON'T PANIC :D b) take your 500mg vitamin C daily c) do warm epsom baths daily d) keep it moving gently e) DON'T PANIC  Bram. |
Vitamin C! How did I forget vitamin C? Thanks so much for reminding me.
