Nerve Growth Factor - Possible hope for treatment of neuropathy

I was recently told about Nerve Growth Factor by my Orthopedist and have performed a little research today on it.
It appears that this could offer some hope for the repair of neuron damage.
They speak about it's possibilities HIV based neuropathy, but from what I have read other trials have shown NGF's efficacy with other neuropathies, including peripheral neuropathy.
