SSDI ?'s

I received an award letter for SSDI due to an accident but letter states review due to expected improvment. My question is there is not DX codee or anything and since I no longer have insurance I cant afford to go to doctor until medicare kicks in and then not sure ai can afford that,

any suggestions

You can't afford to go without regular medical care if you hope to keep SSDI benefits. Often going without medical documentation of ongoing issues is interpreted by the SSA as an indicator that there must have been improvement in your condition and care is no longer needed (not that you can't afford it).

I know that the cost of medical insurance, copays, and meds can take a big bite out of our monthly checks, but regular medical care is a necessity for most people who are disabled, and definitely for those who need to show the SSA that their disability is ongoing.

What is the cost to see specialist

I currently see 4 docs on a reg basis but if medicare only covers 80% I will have to pay nearly 400 a month just to see the docs and that doesnt include medications

In some states Medicaid will pay the difference...

If you don't qualify for Medicaid, than research Supplement and Advantage programs for when Medicare kicks in. In the meantime, check out sliding scale clinics--they might not be ideal, but you MUST keep up treatment.

Have a little chit chat w/all your treating physicians. Most if not all will accommodate you w/payment plans. Check with social services for FREE medical clinics in your neighborhood.
If you do not continue and/or stop treatment, SSDI will cut you off. To them it's a sure sign that you are no longer "disabled."

Here's the Medicare link that allows you to search for plans by state.
