update
Gm. It's been a little over 90 days since my hearing. 60 for decision. The guy at 800#, told me I'm still OK as far as the timeframe. He said if we subtract the weekends, holidays, the snow, So I take like 20 days off, Im @39 days, it's been in underwriting. My attorney, also reassured me that she's had cases that took over 90 and still got approved. She also stated that the hearing went well. Omg this wearing me down. I read on another post where they didnt ask the experts anything, and still got denied. I'm so scared. The myss still says not available. Am I jumping the gun to say I think its a denial and everyone is just pulling my leg?

Not sure what I can say to keep you from being scared, but I think it is always best to listen to your attorney who has your best interests at heart. Do something to stay busy and try to figure out how to keep your mind off it. At least part of the day. There is always the Scarlett O'Hara method: If it is too hard to think about it today, plan to think about it tomorrow. |
Thanks Janke. That's easier said than done. If the walls had ladders??? Thanks for the advice you read cases with people worse off than you get denied, and people not as bad get approved. That's what scares me.

Hi Grandma,
I agree that you read and hear about denials that seem like they should have been approved and approvals that don't seem nearly as dire as some of the denials. Some of these "strange" decisions are better understood when looked at through the eyes of SSA. The question is not how terrible one's affliction but how the affliction affects the ability to work. To most of us, the decisions just seem totally arbitrary at times. Hang in there. The decision will be forthcoming. It does sometimes feel like a trial and we are awaiting the jury to come back with their verdict. Hope you get your decision soon. We will be waiting to hear. We are waiting WITH you. |
Thanks Hopeless. I'm supposed to call Tuesday. An inquiry has been made. These pins and needles hurt. Lol. Gotta make a joke sometimes, just to get a little laugh. I was wondering do you think he could of denied me and then got my newest medical test? I do understand that writing the decision takes a while. So I am trying to stay optimistic about it.

It is really hard to not overthink it, grandma.
What got me through was believing that eventually the SSA would understand the reality of my situation, because I would keep trying til I got the approval. If the documentation wasn't specific enough yet, we'd get there eventually. I had no control over the speed with which the SSA moved or a decision that didn't make sense. I figured when I got to the point that I was in a nursing home/skilled nursing facility under Medicaid, after losing everything, then the nursing home would be after them so that they could get more money from Medicare. That "cheery" thought, that eventually they'd HAVE to recognize that I'm disabled, but WHEN was beyond my control freed me from worrying about the "when" and let me focus more on getting help managing my medical care and making plans for trying to stretch my assets in the meantime. |

But if you are going to believe that people not as bad as you get approved, that should give you a positive feeling, unless you really think that every case is decided upside down and only the truly NOT disabled get approved. I don't believe it for a second. |
I finally got my approval. The 27th of Feb. I was so happy. The worker at the 800# told me the AC snatched it for own motion review. They say it is quality review. Then they say just because they pull doesn't mean they avtually review them. I am really on pins and needles. I saw this post somewhere about what the appeals council looks for. I read my approval 3 times a day, and it looks my case should pass. My ALJ did evefything by the book.

mine was pulled for review and i got a phone call a short time later asking about jobs i had had in the 1970's and then it was approved. i wouldnt worry more than you cant help to.
