Headaches and Injection Therapy Treatment
 

Hi everyone, just to give some idea what is happening to me. I tend to get really bad headaches (doc says bad tension headaches) as the day wears on. Why am i experiencing these headaches and why do they increase in intensity as the day wears on? Can anyone shed some light??

I have been going to a headache specialist for the last two weeks have done three injection treatments. The treatment are needles that freeze your head (nerves) just like when you get freezing at dentist office or prior to getting stitches. Wondering if any has done this treatment before???

I did have an lidocaine injection one time to see if it would work on the back of the head and since it gave me headache relief for 24 hours I went back where they added a steroid to it.
That was three weeks ago and I have been almost headache free since then. I should add that those are the headaches that really come from the back of the head known as the occipital region. So mine are known as occipital nerve blocks. My doctor today told me they work on 90% of the people. He wants to do another one next week to ensure I have a smooth transition and more headache free days.

Ed, what was the result of mri? I was told by a family member (healthcare specialist) that often injections for such things are usually watered down\placebo to see if in fact you are cured or same situation. it seems unethical but sometimes docs use trickory to establish if patient is feigning. I titally believe you have what you have and think science hasnt caught up to what is taught in medical school regarding headaches after injuries where there are no objective findings

I think you meant to say the injections are to NUMB the nerves. Now I understand what the injections were. There are also injections called prolo-therapy. They are antagonists to cause the body to focus on healing the specific injection site.

My neurologist once offered long ago to give me lidocaine injections for tension headaches. They would go in my neck at the base of my skull. I wonder if that might help me now? At least the back part but not the forehead and behind my eyes.

Botox Injections
 

My neurologist has suggested Botox injections into the back of the neck and forehead. There is alot of research that proves it has helped people with migraine issues but there is no research with regards to pcs.

I have heard of people getting the prolo therapy which is basically sugar injections which promotes healing, but I have only heard of people doing this for knees and elbows.

Again I think since every brain injury is different, certain things work for some and not for others.

My brain MRI was done two months after my injury, result was negative..will do a cervical MRI this week on the 27th.

Mokey, I don't trust the injections, I have done three sessions, basically numbs my whole head for a while which helps some what...I think the gabapentin is the only think is keeping my headaches at 5 or 6 and not a full blown 10+...this is hell Mokey.
