MG or MS
 

I have been diagnosed with Myasthenia gravis which has a lot of similar symptoms to MS. I am getting my records together to go to John Hopkins. I just got a copy of my brain MRI from 18 months ago. The neuro that ordered it told me it was normal. I read the report today and it said "mild distribution of nonspecific supratentorial signal abnormality in which several rounded foci of mostly subcortical frontoparietal signal abnormalities are noted". I looked this up and it means lesions, one of the causes listed is MS. Does this mean I have MS and not MG? Did anyone else MRI show this?

Hi Kathie,

MS is a disease of the Central Nervous System(CNS) which includes the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. Lesions can show up anywhere within the CNS.

A lesion is an abnormality, something that should not be there. There can be different medical conditions which can cause lesions.

I am really not familiar with MG but I do believe you can have both MG and MS.
