Fasciculations- Muscle nerve twitching?
Anyone else have these? A few weeks after my concussion I noticed my right eyelid was twitching like crazy, all day off and on. This subsided after a few weeks but comes back every so often especially when I am feeling other concussion symptoms. The docs told me it wasn't related to concussion and was from stress ( cop out answer) but I never had it before.
I learned I had convergence issues with my eyesight and the twitching made sense - my eyes are overtired. But then I started getting twitches in my leg, next to my other eye and my left cheek just started going crazy two days ago. You can see it- it looks freaky. I know these are supposed to be benign. Could it be from my neck injury (three herniated discs and facet issues)? I noticed the twitching acts up when my neck acts up. Should I get checked out and if so by what type of doc or should I just assume this is some weird PCS thing? Anyone else get this? |
I have gotten that kind of thing off and on all of my life, if that helps.

Hi,
I've been twitching since the night of my accident 16 months ago. Never had but an odd muscle spasm prior. Now my muscles twitch everywhere all day long. I sure don't look like I'm having a seizure though. My husband notices. They bother me because they are a constant reminder of what's happened/happening. I wouldn't take meds for them. My brain has had enough. Peace and wellness, Jace |
I've also suffered from muscle twitches since the accident I was in... because of it I've been able to physically identify random and odd muscles that I didn't even know existed prior to the twitching because the twitching made me aware of its presence.
Anyway, this twitching is considered a symptom of a kind peripheral neuropathy... http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/p...neuropathy.htm It can be caused by many different things like direct damage to the nerves, vitamin deficiencies or even hormonal imbalances. Since I started the hormone treatments, the muscle twitching I have experienced has been reduced a great deal... they even completely vanished for several weeks and I thought I was completely done with them, but they started up again... and it makes me wonder if I need the hormone supplements I'm taking to be adjusted. Keep searching for ways to mitigate symptoms like these. |

I don't know if its muscle twitching or just what, but I have an all over tremor type thing that I mostly only notice if I'm really still, like at night when I'm going to sleep. Its only happened since my fall and its worse when I'm over tired or upset.
Its very much like being in the bed with someone who is shaking their leg, which my husband sometimes does when he's sitting on the couch, sort of a fidgeting thing, I don't know how to describe it, but you would recognize it to see it. For the longest time after my fall, at night, as I would be trying to fall asleep, I would suddenly yell out at him to lay still and stop shaking. This lead to a few fights because it was not him and I did not believe him. :o It was me. It was only after he would get out of bed and let me lay in the bed alone and I'd still feel it that I would believe him. I had also noticed it during the day when I slept, but I often let my dog sleep with me, so I thought it was my dog, jiggling around. My husband can feel it if he puts a hand on me while I lay still and it clearly comes from me and seems to come from somewhere in the trunk of my body, not my extremities, but its not strong enough for him to feel through the mattress. Though he is a very quick and deep sleeper. He also doesn't notice when I fall and splat on the floor 2 feet from his head. My doctor doesn't have any real explanation for it, he can't really seem to feel it. I think I can't lie still and relaxed enough at his office for him to feel it. I just chalk it up to some weird brain injury thing. But it does annoy me when I'm trying to get to sleep. Eventually if I just lie there and relax, I fall asleep though, I'm always so tired, sleep always takes over. Starr |

But the muscle twitching I experience is very weird and random... like a muscle in my leg one day and then in my back the next... it's happened in my pubis region as well... it's very strange - I suspect that it has to do with metabolism dysfunction that is caused by hormonal deficiencies... but only time will tell... My chiropractor recently recommended that I take magnesium to help mitigate it. |
