Pass the Cookies

To gently balance the Cheese thread, I wanted a place for us to acknowledge the days and times we feel good, when something good happened and the chance to appreciate the joys in life- Milk and Cookies

My cookie is a Snickerdoodle!

I have recently improved and my ability to walk climb stairs has shifted from step-by-step to step-over-step. With handrails of course!

I marvel at people who glide down the stairs, step over step without hand rails. It looks like an Olympic sport or a beautiful dance!

I miss walking up stairs.

My favorite cookies are chocolate chip.

I've had the weekend to just play around with my new room. It's still not quite finished with the remodel. Still waiting for paint, and for my linen cabinet to get set back up in it's new home. (missing my linen cabinet. I have no where to put the clean towels!)

I'm all decided on paint (blue). I'm finally putting up my dartboard that I've had since my mid 20s. Planning on using the dartboard for PT exercises. Since, you have to be able to stand, and have good balance. I think playing darts will help with some DIY physical therapy, and it'll keep me from being bored. Went and bought new darts yesterday so that I'll have something to throw at my dartboard when they get it hung up tomorrow.

I can't wait to have fun with the dartboard.

and I have to decide where to hang my new grab bars that I bought. Never thought I'd be excited about slapping grab bars up to the walls. (also planning on some more DIY PT with one of those bars)

My favorite cookie is the cookie!!!!! Vanilla wafer, oreo, thin mint, you name it I like it. Oh I don't like those (please forgive spelling) the springerly. I think it is bitter tasting

As you have been reading, I am in a good church I enjoy and I am now serving in the choir. It makes me happy. I am going to see my grand kids this week and tour my daughter's work place which is in a cave. That makes her happy.

I like marzipan cookies from Whole Foods, and the ginger snaps I buy for the grandkids.
I rarely eat them, though, as I am trying to preserve my teeth, and they say sugar is not too good for the teeth, so if I eat a desert it's at home when I can wash my teeth and use Biotene right away.

My best news is my new pcp, who really knows about neurology and hematology, and probably everything else. How did I get so lucky?

My grandkids are a joy, although hard work. One of them is trying to teach me to play a computer game, Minecraft. The other one, a nine year old boy, is learning to use a sewing machine his mother has (we watch him carefully so he won't get hurt) and he's going to hem my slacks which are now too long since I lost weight. I love to help the older boy with his writing for school, like helping him pick a subject for his "news report" and filling him in on what's going on in the world, like sinkholes all over.

Both grandkids are taking music lessons. Rusty's music teacher is encouraging him in jazz improvisation because that's the way his interest lies, she says. He is nine and the other one is 11--dreaded Middle School next year. I do not approve of Middle Schools since I went to one myself and tried to teach in one long ago.

I bought some of these over the weekend. (this is an old picture I took months ago to show another online friend, it's easier than uploading a new picture).

They're similar to a British cookie called a "Jaffa cake". (they actually call cookies "biscuits" in England). Altho, everything I've read about Jaffa Cakes, those are actually more cake-like than cookie/biscuit-like. They're kind of cake like, with an orange flavored filling, and the chocolate on top of the cookie. Best mix of flavors in the world are orange and chocolate. I fell in love with the flavor when I went to England and got some chocolate cake there that had orange marzipan or something like it mixed in the layers of cake. I need to figure out how to replicate the flavors. If I can find a bakery that can make that, I might have a birthday cake like that this year.

I am addicted to this particular brand of cookie (Pim's), but I do someday want to buy some actual Jaffa Cakes from England so I can compare the two. See which is better. The price of the Pim's cookies has gone up. They used to be $2.50 last year. Now they're $3.38!! (that was at Walmart on saturday)

Erin, Have you tried the Pepperage Farms Orange Malano Cookies?
My favs.:)

BTW, MissJ, every day has something good in it for me,
but I don't have anything especially good to announce.:)

UPDATE... My Doc is writing my new script for LDN.:yahoo:
I think I'll have a Cookie!!!:D

I love Pim's! Pepperidge Farm is good but Pim's are better. I can buy them at the grocery up the street for $3.19. That's not cheap but it's acceptable in my book. :)

You can't talk to me about cookies right now!! I am trying to diet over here! Or was it just die? I miss cookies...and cheese! Actually, speaking of feeling good, I have lost 23 pounds in the last 34 days and I don't feel like I am starving myself. I am still training for the MS150 two weeks from now and feel great! I just hope that going back on Rebif (now that the insurance company has agreed I can have it) doesn't put the kibosh on my weight loss successes. And I have eaten a few cookies...mostly thin mints and those lemon Girl Scout cookies...but it has been 1-2 every couple of days, not 1-2 each time I walk through the kitchen.

yes, I have had the Pepperidge Farm's Chocolate Orange Milano cookies. WHICH I CAN'T GET HERE ANYMORE!!!:mad::mad::mad: None of the stores I go to carry them.

~curls up on the floor and cries eyes out for lack of chocolate orange flavored Milano's~

I *almost* got my dartboard on the wall today. We realized that the wall I want it on needs to be painted, so we can't put the board up till the paint goes up. But, I do have my dartboard where I can see it now, AND there were darts inside the dartboard! (yay!) Just the bar darts that came with it, but now I can at least have three people play darts with me, without having anyone sharing darts.

My mom got her mother's day present a little early. Or late, depending on your point of view. About two years ago, we were shopping for a piece of artwork to put on the wall above our fireplace. We had it all picked out, and were about to order it and get it framed when my mom got sick with West Nile virus. So we put it off. The decorator I'm using for the remodels reminded us that we'd wanted the artwork. What we picked was no longer available, but she found us another one in a similar theme. (just a picture of magnolia flowers in a nice frame). We finally got that today, it's hung on the wall. So, she either got her mother's day present two years late, or a few weeks early.

My mom also got another present today. She'd been wanting a mirror for her bedroom. Again, the decorator came to the rescue. She got a HUGE mirror for her bedroom, double framed, and bolted to the wall. It's really a nice mirror.

That picture over the fireplace makes the living room look good now. Now we have to rearrange the furniture. All three of us are using walkers now, so we need to arrange the furniture so we're not getting stuck in a queue trying to get thru the room. The decorator is also going to help us with that, putting the furniture in places where we can use it, and it makes sense for walking thru the room with rollators. We need to hire furniture movers for that. So, once my room is painted, we're getting the furniture all rearranged.

I'm all excited. We've been here 12yrs, and the furniture is pretty much all where we left it when we unloaded the truck. So, we're going to finally be all moved in, and hopefully comfortably arranged.

really, I just wanna play darts!

edit

and I just remembered something else I want to hang in my room. I bought this drum on a vacation to South Dakota that I took with my boyfriend a few years ago. I've been wanting to hang this somewhere ever since then. No idea where I want to hang it, but when the guy comes back to hang my dartboard, I'm going to see if he can put a nail somewhere for me to hang this.
