failed SCS trial
Hello all, well my trial was 6 months ago with probably 5% relief on my left leg.The plan was for totall relief of pain on both legs, and possibe relief of lumbar area at least 50%.The worst part was during the procedure and the 5 day trial without bathing,i really think after talking to other dr's that something did not go well during my procedure. When i would explain to them the horrific pain that i went through they said i should have not gone through so much pain, mind you i am a person very tolerable towards pain. But this was torture when they started the procedure it was from my upper back down it would feel like my chest, stomach were ready to explode everytime they would turn the current on to see what was the position of the leads in my spine and yes i was fully awake, before saying yes do your homework,i have heard of succsesful trials also, their moderators and members here that have excellent info.good luck

thank you
Thank you dspine...all feedback info is important.
I am sorry you did not get relief. I am pleased to hear you have doctors that "hear" you. I have been reading of others that have similar reactions although that is the extent of my knowledge. all the best HB |
I am saddened that your pain from RSD was not decreased more dspine and that the trial was a failure. I appreciate the information as HB stated also as I am scheduled for the trial too. Yours has been the worst scenario that I have read so far. How they let you go through so much pain is beyond me. I am also a candidate for the infusion pump and have not made my mind up yet. Perhaps you might consider that avenue also. Either way I wish you the best of medical service and diminished pain. Never give up your HOPE! Thank you again for sharing with us and keep us posted if you can. RSD hugs dspine ........

Hi Dspine
Feeling saddened to learn your trial was far more TRIAL than benefit....far more.
Hoping your docs, who seem open to listening, will work with you toward a therapy method which brings comfort to your body. Yup, those opiods are awful in many ways.....and so difficult to have a dependency on them, as is the case for too many of us who deal with chronic pain. May all things....ALL THINGS be well with you in times to come. Hugz  :grouphug: |
Hi dspine!
Thank you so much for sharing. Your input is just as important as one who had good results
I'm just sorry it went so badly. I wish the medical team would've actually 'heard' you better when you were describing how much pain you were in. Yes, it does sound like something definitely wasn't right. I'm sorry you had to go through that. From what you describe of the strong sensation in your chest/abdomen, it's almost as tho they had the current set on the very highest setting when they turned it on, rather than starting low and gradually turning up the stim. As Krow, Mark and the others have said, don't lose hope. There WILL be something out there for you. My best wishes to you Rae :grouphug: |
