Tarlov Cyst causing pain?

I am a new member; I'm looking for some hope and/or relief. I have a long history of back pain that would come and go but it has never been anything localized. I've been seeing a chiro for 20+ years.

November 2012 I woke one morning with undescribable pain which felt like it was my tailbone. Immediate chiropractor adjustment felt somewhat better where I could walk but this pain has NEVER gone completely away.

I went through a full work up in 2013 which included EMG with neurologist for tingling/burning in feet bilaterally - results were totally normal. Two MRI's - lumbar spine and pelvis - nothing significant except I noted a tarlov cyst and started researching. I've seen two different chiropractors, 2 neurologists, 3 different physical therapists, 1 occupational therapist, psychiatrist, had a steroid injection at the level of the cyst...I've tried different massages, bought several coccyx cushions, took 4 weeks off of work for a hysterectomy and found little relief.

This month I'm back to feeling like I'm going to be incapacitated and can't work which involves sitting all day. I decided to take a mental break in 2014 from healthcare providers because I couldn't handle one more person asking me to rate my pain when it is so difficult because it is in several different places on that side and it feels different in intensity, length, consistency from minute to minute and the more I try to pinpoint it, the more I think they believe it is all in my head! After the steroid injection didn't work I was told it MUST be musculoskeletal and I should go to physical therapy and psychological therapy. I believe I have musculoskeletal issues but this pain is so consistently on my left side, left buttock, and now down my left leg that I can't forget about that Tarlov cyst.

Other chronic conditions I have: Fibromyalgia, depression/anxiety

I've tried numerous medications (Gabapentine, Lyrica, Cymbalta, flexeril, hydrocodone, and I think every possible antidepressant) and I don't tolerate many because I get SO tired that I can't function or I get so shaky and head fog. My stomach doesn't tolerate NSAID's very well but I'm on low dose MOBIC.

I just don't know where to go next and what to try. I'm suffering financially from all of the medical bills from last year and I just don't know where to go or what to do!

Hi dlgeu.

I've read your story and I felt as if it is mine but instead of having pain in my leg and bottom I have pain in my both sides of my neck and shoulders and more often I have the feeling of pain in the bottom of my right feet and it's driving me crazy!!!!

I also did MRI around 4 times and they showed that I have hernia in C4 and C5. But the last time I did the MRI it DID NOT show that I have any of these but what I actually have is ( mild degenerative changes that had been seen in my spine + I have multiple small perineural cyst that was seen in the left exit foramina of the cervical spine and the largest one is measured 8.4 mm at C7/T1)

And in the end I just hope that the doctors would find the exact cure for this illness.

Best regards Badia.
