Thursday, June 7, 2007 10 a.m.-3 p.m. James Tower Lobby Swedish Medical Center/Cherry Hill 500 17th Ave. Seattle, Washington Designed to raise awareness of movement disorders, the interactive, educational exhibit simulates the symptoms of several movement disorders. You can experience: • The small shuffling steps of Parkinson’s disease • The uncontrollable shaking or “tremors” of essential tremor • The excessive eye-blinking and involuntary eye closure of blepharospasm • The unexpected body movements caused by tics or Tourette’s syndrome • The stiff and tight muscles of spasticity • The twisting muscle contractions of dystonia • The uncomfortable leg sensations of restless legs syndrome The Movement Disorders Experience Center is sponsored by the Swedish Neuroscience Institute to help you gain a greater understanding of what it’s like to live with a movement disorder.
