Lisa

I have just been diagnosed with RSD. I have to admit I am very scared and really do not know what to expect. It is in my right hand. I am going for a nerve
Block on Monday and really do not know what to expect. I would greatly appreciate any and advice and knowledge that you all could share with me.

Hopefully they can use those blocks to stop the RSD in its tracks. When they catch it early, the better the chance of the blocks helping.

I have it in the right foot and leg, so Im not familiar with what happens in the upper part of the body. I sure will be praying they can put it into remission with those blocks

There are others here with it in the arms and hands, they will be better at helping with what you might expect. Just remember this place is full of support.

Good luck with the nerve blocks!

Welcome Lisa ,by the way an advice ,I had 6-7 or more I don't even remember how many lumbar blocks for my rsd/crps pain on my right foot, well if you don't rest let me tell you,the medication won't stay in your body, unfortunately for me my dr sent me to work the next day and my job required constant stretching ,twisting, bending, etc.so far for me did not work, but don't get scare ,they might work for you,we are all react different also is a lot to learn, don't b afraid soon you will find a right combo of meds and medical treatments that would work.
Read if you can all the postings related to rsd ,you will learn a lot from all the members of this forum, also keep in mind they are days where you don't see the light ,is normal, try to go over and be patient,is hard ,but we are all here to support each other so just look for us ,blessings to you and wish you the best in your upcoming treatment, remember ,relax, rest, and be patient ,takes time to get use to ,but you will get there ,hope you the best, from Jesika :grouphug:

Hi Lisa, Welcome. I am newly diagnosed too. I hope this goes well for you (the block).Sorry you have this miserable affliction. It is different in everyone. Learn as much as you can and keep a pain journal. I have it in my right foot knee, leg and has spread throughout my body. Always think positive as stress and being emotional does not help. I know being stress free and calm all the time is next to impossible especially with CRPS/RSD. Best of luck to you with the block. Again Welcome.

Hi Lisa. Mine started in my right hand and wrist. It is now pretty much in my whole right arm but is worst in my hand, wrist, forearm and shoulder. But that doesn't mean yours will spread beyond your hand.

I hope your nerve block went well today. I had one but it didn't work but I know it works for some members of this group. I really hope that it works for you.

I remember when I was first diagnosed, I found it difficult to deal with the lack of a prognosis. CRPS/RSD is not well understood and it seems to affect us all differently. But I will say that my hand and wrist are better now than they were when I was first diagnosed 16 months ago. Back then, my hand was so swollen you couldn't even see that I had knuckles...there was not even a suggestion of knuckles. I couldn't move my fingers more than a tiny bit that was almost imperceptible. Now, my hand and wrist are still a bit swollen but not much (most days). I am still in pain but I have a functioning hand and I am working full time.

Hang in there and let us know how the nerve block went.

Hi Lisa,

Welcome to the club that none of us wishes we were a member of

Is this new dx for a recent problem with your right hand and pain ? Prompt treatment is your best chance for finding remission.

Even for those of us for whom remission hasn't happened, a good treatment plan by committed docs/health care team can help us find some quality of live.

I hope that you see some results from the upcoming nerve block.
