Chiropractic neurology
Has anyone had any experiences, good or bad, seeing a chiropractor specializing in neurology? I've found that there is one a few towns away from me, and was just wondering if it was worth looking into.

My physical therapist is licensed in doing manipulations. It was wonderful! But you need to be very careful with someone moving your spine and neck around with a TBI. One wrong move can leave you feeling awful for weeks.
Mine came highly recommended by a variety of other practitioners I was seeing, so I gave it a shot. He knew what he was doing, so it was beneficial. Maybe see if the person you are looking at has references from other TBI patients? |
Chiro neuros usually are followers of Dr Carrick's chiro neuro protocol. Some have been beneficial. Others are a waste of money. Insurance rarely pays for the special protocols of Carrick based chiro neuros. It can be a $5000 expense.

Hello SmilinEyesMs305,
Which of your symptoms were cured by your chiro neuro? My main issues today are Extreme dizziness/lightheadedness and fatigue. I havent seen any improvement dizziness yet, I am looking for different ways to treat it. |
I'm confused. I have never heard of a therapist being licensed to do manipulations. From what my PT says, PT licensing is far broader than a single protocol. Some may have taken a special course in a particular therapy modality and get a certificate from an entity that teaches that modality. I have been treated by multiple PT's who did various kinds of manipulations.

I was prescribed Valium and told to take Aleve as well as a Medrol Dose Pack. I was in excrutiating pain yesterday and running a low grade fever so I went to get an IV and got Valium and Morphine and fluids- they thought it would break the headache and pain. It didn't help the pain and I didn't sleep. I didn't feel much relief; I was just drowsy when I got home. Now I just took my Valium (an increased dosage rec. by docs) and Vicoprofen. I took it about two hours ago and haven't felt any different yet. Also waiting to update my neurologist. |
