Diagnosed with colloid cyst 2 months ago

So, I was diagnosed with the colloid cyst 2 months ago, I am in the Active Duty Military and they are moving me to San Antonio, as that is where the surgery will be taking place at SAMMC. I am having doubts about surgery though, I read these stories of people who, 7 years post surgery, still have chronic headaches, severe pain, memory loss and one post i read was 9 years and he was JUST now able to return to work. Is surgery worth it? Seems like most of the time it isn't a good choice, it doesn't really relieve any symptoms, just prevents the "sudden death" from happening. I am about to tell my superiors that I want to wait and see if the cyst grows or moves, because only thing I am having is the occasional chronic headache. Maybe once a month that happens.

Also, I am wondering what the disabilities people are put on after surgery. What can you do after surgery and also if the military will just discharge me or not.

These are my bigest concerns as well. What if after surgery I'll be in constant pain, and not be able to return to a normal life? On the other hand, I can't continue like this as well. I have a bad head ache once per month, however I can tell the pressure in my head is getting worst. Plus I have mood disorders. I used to be the nicest person, and now I'm just becoming a monster that everyone is afraid of. Plus I have a kid to take care of. I'll have the surgery soon. May God help us ALL!

I just don't know what to do. I don't want to deny the surgery adn wait and then it becomes a "pre-existing condition"

I have 2 weeks left until the surgery and still unsure if I'm doing the right thing. Sometimes when I'm relaxed, and not tired (very rare), I feel normal, and then I freek out and think that I shoul have waited. Then, back to work and stress and the pressure is building up again, then I'm glad I said yes. Other pottential symtoms that doctors said are not related to the cyst, are a heat at the back of my head and recently on top of my head. Plus the tinnitus wich brought me to the MRI in the first place. Best of luck!
