uncertain with dr diagnosis
i may not be able to fully explain this because i am really tired still. I was in the hospital for 1 night because I was having problems walking and coordination. My mind is still light headed. after running several tests and MRI which neuro said came back normal he concluded it was because of a medication i am taking. It is topomax that i am on as a mood stabalizer and have been for about 5 yrs. My walking has improved but I am still really tired. My question is others have said the possibility of ms and i wanted to know about if i could still have it or get anyone's opinion about this. thanks

Hello catlover99 and welcome to NeuroTalk.
Could your symptoms be from Topamax? Yes. Like any medication, Topamax has side effects. Medication side effects should be rules out by your prescribing Dr. It is always possible for medication side effects to happen regardless of the length of time on a medication. Information and side effects of Topamax: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/d...s/a697012.html If you are concerned you have MS you will need to see a Neurologist for testing which will include testing for other conditions which have similar symptoms to MS. There is a diagnostic criteria for MS --- The McDonald Criteria. Best wishes! |
hello and welcome to NT,
i agree with snoopy. the fact that the mri was clear is good. i assume it was a brain mri? you can always get another opinion to put your mind more at ease. keep in touch with your pcp also and monitor your condition. sometimes we keep symptom journals with sx's and dates to help the dr evaluate our conditions. stay in touch with us. |
