Thoughts needed...

So I meet with my neuro again on the 22nd... I am torn... do I go back to work and see how it goes or do I stay off work until the headaches are gone all together and my short term memory is back??? What factors should I be considering?

Your MVA wasn't really very long ago. (I know, it feels like ages.)If you are still struggling with symptoms, my experience tells me that you might be better off continuing to rest.

I mean, if you feel that crummy when you're not having to produce in the workplace...

Setbacks really stink.

That is my fear... I went back to work the first time on 2-4... lasted 2.5 days... went back again on 2-24... lasted 2 days... I have been off since... both times I went back it set me back to day one... I do not want that to happen again... now mind you it has been 3 months since I was back so that is my struggle...

If you don't mind me asking, what do you do?

SarahSmile0205 05-13-2014 04:04 PM

I am an account manager for a commercial roofing company... so I deal with 2 outside accounts as well as one internal for training... I field about 500 emails a day and about 50 calls in the busy season which is now...

Oh, lots of simultaneous tasks, with pressure, in real time. Not much opportunity for pacing. That might be a lot to expect of yourself, right now.

How is the accuracy of your work? I ask because my day job was in finance. After my TBI, I couldn't go back because I had a tendency to make errors (especially inverting numbers) and being unable to see them.

SarahSmile0205 05-13-2014 05:58 PM

I could see inverting numbers being an issue since I have a problem typing with accuracy the first time... I also have problems concentrating when it is more than one or 2 line emails or comments.. even on here... I will read a paragraph... wait... read another one hoping i remember the first one...

Your job sounds too intense and "on-demand" for a return.

It seems as though you have little control over workload as you are serving customers which needs to be done well and you need to think quick.

In my job as an accountant I don't really serve anyone and just compile info for others. I have weekly and monthly due dates so I have the luxury of scheduling out my work a month in advance.

During our annual audit the auditors were present for 3 weeks and I would have to respond to their questions on-demand and get answers quick which triggered my symptoms big time.

I talked to my mother today... a few weeks ago I was asked by a neighbor to write a character letter on their behalf for a custody issue...

I wrote the letter and asked my mom to proof it since I am not 100% sure of myself....

First issue, I sent her the wrong letter...

2nd... she had to call me to get me to explain what I wanted to say... she did not understand the flow...

She also said that since I am still having daily headaches coupled with the other issues (above and memory) that it is probably not a good idea.

I really would like to think that she is wrong but deep down I know she is right...
