Success with medications?

Hi everyone,

I am planning on starting Sertraline (an SSRI) soon to help with my PCS symptoms.

My symptoms are mostly due to a hyper-sensitive brain (I think) and any increase in heart rate or blood pressure results in a 'pressure' feeling in my head and behind my left eye with subsequent slowed cognitive processing. I think the slowed cognitive processing then leads to light and noise sensitivity, word finding difficulty, as well as general confusion and irritability. The 'pressure' feeling and symptoms last for approx. 24 hours and then I return to an almost normal state.

Has anyone experienced some form of improvement using an SSRI or other medication for PCS? If so, what kind of improvements did you experience?

Thank you for you help

I will say that it helps take the edge off... I do not seem to get irritated as quickly...

It is not uncommon for PCS sufferers to be prescribed an SSRI. Reducing the brain's tendency to be anxious can be beneficial. Each person responds to SSRI's differently. I have not seen anyone mention taking Sertraline here. It usually takes about two weeks to start to see the long term effect of an SSRI so try to be patient.

Let us know how you are doing.
