I think I might have done it again

I don't remember hitting my head but I have a sore spot and blurry vision and nausea. I don't get it. I went almost 33 years and was fine. And now 2, maybe 3, TBIs in 2 months? I'm angry. I don't know how to stop this. I feel like I'm in a vicious cycle. How do you keep from whacking your head? It's just too easy to do. And my parents are out of town til Sunday and I don't want to worry them. I don't know what to do.

You need to call and tell your parents... sorry, I know you don't want to...

Maybe you just did too much today? causing a rebound effect? Maybe try and rest and see if it goes away...

Yes, tell your parents, please.

Are you worried that you hit your head, without knowing, during an absence seizure or a fainting spell? Or just hit it and can't remember because of the injury?

Try and rest, if your symptoms get worse, get it checked out at the ER.

When I'm anywhere I think my head could get whacked (like watching a ball game), I wear a Forcefield concussion band. They look pretty much like a sweatband, but offer some protection from external blows.

Socks,

I developed a tendency to bang my head easily too. I had to change the way I move. No reaching, stretching bending over or twisting to pick something up. Instead, I use good back mechanics. Open the car door, stoop and reach in. Stoop and reach under the desk, or better, if you can use a reaching tool to reach under the desk. I can't picture how you did these head impacts but know you can find a way to move better. I had to learn this for two reasons, To avoid hitting my head and to avoid wrenching my back.

A point to remember. The concussed brain often struggles with balance and proprioception (knowing where your muscle/limbs are). This is made much worse when the head is in an awkward position, such a leaning over.

It takes time to learn these new movement behaviors but the effort is worth it.

My best to you.

Thanks all. I've been sleeping the last few hours. I think I feel better. If I still feel bad tomorrow I'll tell them. Hopefully you're right Sarah and Hockey (I love hockey btw, but only to watch lol) and I just overdid it. I'm going to look into one of those Forcefield bands. Thanks again guys. I'm so glad i found this place!

Edit: Ok I just facebooked them.

So true, as an athlete, I always had good body awareness. Now, I'm so clumsy. Like you, I have learned to move with more deliberation.

So I woke up today with a bump that's still sore and a Facebook notification that someone I knew growing up had accepted my friend request. I don't remember friending him. I have no reason to have done so. Now I'm wondering what else I might have done that I don't remember.

Oh, my, how frightening for you. Do you have family and friends to keep an eye on you?

I will tomorrow. My parents come back home. They'll probably want me to spend the night at their house or something. I still feel ok though, other than a sore bump and that weird incident. So hopefully it's nothing.
