Psuedotumor Cerebri

My daughter was first diagnosed with Psuedotumor five years ago. She was treated with medicine for those five years and had many Spinal Taps to relieve the fluids. I started to see her personality change in those five years. Her Dr. finally tried to put a stint in, but it did not work. Last year she finally had a shunt put in. Last week she ended up in the ER. She said it felt like something popped behind her eye, she was seeing spots, and also had a horrible headache. After 11 hours in the ER they finally gave her a Spinal Tap and took fluid. We are still not sure what happened. One thing I have noticed about her is that her personality has changed DRASTICALLY!!!. It started about the time she was diagnosed. Has anyone experience this?
I thought that when a shunt was put in that was suppose to take care of the fluid.

Pseudotumor Cerebri

Hi lje55,
Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.
I'm sorry that your daughter is dealing with such serious health concerns.

Here is the link to the
General Health Conditions and Rare Disorders Forum

There are quite a number of old posts on that particular forum for this condition.

There is also the search feature where you can type in your keywords e.g. Pseudotumor Cerebri, and that will bring up any relevant posts or threads from the past.

You could also post over on the
Hydrocephalus Forum
regarding your concerns about the shunt. They may be able to offer some information about that.

Psuedotumor cerebri

I'm 36yrs old I'll be 37 in a couple weeks this is 1 of the hardest battles I've had to deal with my entire life!? Idk if there's any cure for this my nuerosirgon keeps saying weight loss but I'm reading other peoples weights and these weigh a lot less than me so now I'm like wow? Anyways so so far I've had about maybe 10 surgeries for a lumbar perenteniol shunt idk i know I'm
Misspelling the second word but close enough. I've been diagnoses with this condition 2/3 years ago since 2011/2012. When I 1at got diagnosed they put the shunt in. But it kept manulfunctioning so each time it manuelfunctioned they went back and had to do surgery to put a new 1 in. But as soon as it's settled it lasted for 2 years. Til now and again I went thru another 6/7 surgeries since dec 2013. And as of May 21st I just put another shunt in and so far so good so I'm just hoping this shunt work cuz they cut me the same place so much it seems like it's having a hard time. Healing back? Anyways this is a very hard thing to live with and right now I trying to go for the gastric bypass to get the weight off. And just FYI I'm 5'4" and I weigh 335lbs I noticed wen I was like 350+ lbs that's wen I earned this disorder. So idk if this helps u but it helped me to know there's other people that suffer some of what I'm going thru?
