Retirement but have long term disability insurance also

I would think if I retire, I may not be able to claim my long term disability. Has anyone faced this too.

Hey there! I am on LTD and SSD currently, have a ways to go until I reach retirement age  It is my understanding with LTD insurance policies (at least the ones I have seen) that they only provide benefits until you reach SSNRA (Social Security Normal Retirement Age).

Murgir,

Nanc is correct that LTD will only pay until age of retirement at 65. If you are considering it please apply for LTD prior to retiring to make sure you are approved that way there are no surprises.

Ditto. I've heard the same things that Nanc and Tessa have. Good luck with your decision and take care. Sincerely, Renee.

Different states have different laws concerning LTD and SSR.
Do your research for the state you reside in.
NC pays the same amount just takes it from a different source...
