natural and medicinal remedies for peripheral neuropathy
Im a 26 year old woman who has suffered from peripheral neuropathy of the axanol type for 2 years now.
After numerous tests the doctors have not determined what the cause is. I do have a crushed spine so that may or may not have anything to do with it? I have been to numerous doctors over the years trying to find some kind of relief from it as it is constant and controls alot of my life. The doctor had put me on neurotin which does absolutely nothing for the burning pain in my feet. I take niacin, magnesium, krill oil and smother my feet with cooling gel to ttry and help the pain but nothing works. Any suggestions or advice would be so appreciated! |

foundation knowledge
There is quite a bit of great information on this site.
Here are some good places to start for a foundation and then it helps to come back with more specific questions for your situation: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum119.html http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread177.html |
I recently started using a TENS unit to help with the burning pain in my foot, you may want to ask your doctor about trying one. Also there are other meds like lyrica, cymbalta and nortriptyline that may be more useful to you than the neurontin.

Take the niacin at bedtime, with 1 aspirin or 500 mg vitamin C. Either of these should help reduce any niacin flushing that may contribute/exacerbate the burning sensation. R-Lipoic Acid helps many folks with diabetic PN control/eliminate the burning. Even though your PN is different, I think it's worth a try. You may find other supplements here. Doc |
