Joint Pain Supplement Chart
Here's a chart I came across that lists all different herbs and supplements and their uses for joint pain.
http://www.joint-pain-forum.com/natural-remedies.html Hope it helps someone. |
Not on that list that I can see is SAMe (400-600mg a day). This supplement is just wonderful for arthritis. I also have had good results with omega-3's (fish or krill oil).
These are not "cures" but really can help to keep a level of mobility and minimal pain. One has to be careful of manganese... we inhale this from vehicle exhaust for one thing. Manganese has been implicated in Parkinson-like symptoms development. http://www.mailman.columbia.edu/news...insons-disease http://www.psr.org/chapters/boston/h...-gasoline.html |

The manganese in the cited article is manganese ascorbate. The form in automobile exhaust is manganese oxide. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science...48969795044387 Doc |
Manganese comes in oxide like zinc does. In fact zinc and manganese have similar absorption in the body. Manganese oxide is soluble in acid conditions (like the stomach),just like zinc.
Just because magnesium oxide does not get absorbed or ionized in the human body, does not mean OTHER mineral oxides don't. Often people mix up magnesium and manganese, too. http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocente...als/manganese/ My concern with manganese is that it added to other intakes that people don't understand could lead to too much total for the body to handle. You know back when... glucosamine products first came out, a well known brand of it, was contaminated with manganese! http://undergroundhealthreporter.com...#axzz344HYP8pC So taking a supplement on top of other potential sources in the diet or from pollution, may lead to problems down the road. That is my point. One needs to be careful with manganese. |
I've noted I am a bit improved since I've been taking glucosamine daily for almost a year now. I have taken it for years off and on, but decided to stick with it daily and I believe it's helping. I keep pain under control and would LOVE to get my knee improved so I can walk better.
I have a 94 yr old friend and, no joint surgeries, she firmly believes she's still walking good due to years of glucosamine...she uses a cane now and walks better than me. |
